

“Grandma”
Penny (Penelope) Katsis McGrath, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully at home October 31, 2010.
Penny was born on October 6, 1920 in Pocatello, ID. She married the love of her life Phil McGrath in May 1939. Phil passed on July 12, 2002. Grandma’s family always came first and was the most important part of her life. She is well known for her love of cruising with her family and friends; especially tour-directing these activities.
Professionally she has been affiliated with the Olympic Club (Sand Trap), the Club Sojourner, and the Granite Club. Friends will fondly remember the “Witch’s” golf tournaments which were held for over 19 years. She and her family have shared loving times together at Flaming Gorge (Manila) and St. George.
Penny is survived by her three children and their families: Mick (Barbara) McGrath; Tom (Kathy) McGrath; Penny (Kenny) Williams; and her sister Katherine (Gus) Floor; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by two sisters: Helen (Andy) Bathemess; and Bella (Herman) Gygi.
The family expresses special Thank You to Katie Hernandez as well as family members and friends who have stayed so close these past few years.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 4, 2010 at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary Chapel, 3401 Highland Drive, SLC. Friends may also call Wednesday evening from 6 – 8:00 p.m. and Thursday at 12:45 p.m., at the same location.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Holy Trinity Church memorial gymnasium fund, 279 South 300 West, SLC, 84101 (801) 328-9681.
