1920 ~ 2010
Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully October 27, 2010 surrounded by his family.
Peter was born September 15, 1920 to Joseph and Venus Aposhian Orullian, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was the 6th child out of nine in his family.
Peter graduated from Granite High School where he was captain of the football team and loved the sport. After high school he joined the military and served four years in the Navy Air Corps during World War II. He had integrity and honor his whole life, and was given the nickname of “Honest Salty” by his Navy associates.
After serving in the Navy, he attended the University of Utah where he met his wife Gloria Hendricks on the steps of Kingsbury Hall. 4 ½ years later they married on March 20, 1950. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple.
Peter was hard working all of this life, obtaining his first job at the age of 14, working at the Brickyard hauling wheelbarrows full of bricks. Because of this heavy work he developed a muscular body which allowed him to be a successful boxer in the navy and in college.
After college he worked for Union Pacific Railroad for a number of years. After that most of his career was spent in production management at Litton Industries. He spent the last few years of his working career at Hill Air Force Base.
Peter had a great love of gardening, growing and experimenting with many different varieties of fruits and vegetables. He was always proud to share his yearly harvests, homemade raspberry jam, and especially his famous Armenian pickles with friends, neighbors and family!
He is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Gloria Hendricks Orullian; daughter, Terri and husband, Danny Chivers; daughter, Shauna Orullian; grandchildren, Cory Peter Chivers and wife Millie; granddaughter,Andrea Chivers, great-granddaughter Chloe Chivers; brother, Ephraim Orullian, and numerous nieces and nephews.
