1928-2010
Our loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, Rulon Hughes Nuttall, passed away peacefully January 3, 2011 in his home of natural causes. He was delivered by his grandfather Dr. Joseph Hughes at the Joseph Hughes Memorial Hospital in Spanish Fork, Utah on April 11, 1928. He was the oldest child of Rulon Nuttall and Bernice Hughes Nuttall.
Rulon married the love of his life, Marilyn May Janke, in the Salt Lake City Temple, September 27th, 1950, then left immediately to serve his country during the Korean war. They were fortunate to have been able to celebrated their 60th anniversary this year.
When Rulon returned from the war, he attended and graduated from the University of Utah in 1953 as an electrical engineer. He worked at Unysis (Sperry Univac), North American Aviation, and for Utah Power & Light until he retired. He served on the board of UP&L retirees and the Rockport Homeowners Association.
Rulon was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He held the positions of membership and financial clerk for many Bishops. Rulon was a High Priest and later in life, with his wife, served with joy as an ordinance worker in the Salt Lake Temple.
Rulon was a quite and gentle man whose family meant everything to him. As his children grew up, he enjoyed taking his family hunting, camping and fishing, and even though most his time was spent untangling lines, it was the best of times. He loved card games and chess and taught his children to play. He also loved spending time at the cabin and being around his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was loved and will be greatly missed.
Survived by his wife Marilyn Janke Nuttall, Children: Linda (Eddie) Wilson, Kathleen (Craig) Stone, Patricia (Leo) Florence, Terry Nuttall, Susan Nuttall, and David (Ann) Nuttall. 12 Grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Brother Bruce (Jo) Nuttall and sister Diane (Bill) Vetter.
The family would like to thank LifePath Home Health, Hospice and Family Care for the wonderful care of Rulon and the help for Marilyn these last 7 months, especially Nurse Debbie, Samantha and all the volunteers.
