1917 ~ 2013
Salt Lake City, Utah-Our dear husband, dad, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend passed away on May 13, 2013 just shy of his 96th birthday. Russell lived by the "work hard and all will be well" motto. Included in that work ethic was his life-long commitment to serve others. He served as a soldier in WW II and he served his family all the days of his life. In his later years, he even served faithfully in church assignments. A man of few words, but many skills and talents, Dad could fix anything that was broken or build anything to make life more comfortable for us. Growing up in the depression taught Dad the value of being thrifty. In addition to his main employment as an accountant, Dad dabbled in other business pursuits causing him to never stop working.
We are grateful to have had Dad with us for such a very long time, teaching us to "hope all things, to endure many things, and hope to be able to endure all things".
Until we meet again-
Russell is survived by his wife Marilyn: son, Russell (Karen); daughter, Shauna (Jim); five grandsons (Russell III, Pace, Gardner, Jacob, Alex); and six great-grandchildren with another one to be born in July.
We especially want to thank the staff and caregivers at the Beehive Home at East Mill Creek who cared for our Dad with so much love.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Friday, May 17th at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 Highland Dr., where friends may call Thursday evening from 6:00-7:30 pm and Friday one prior to services. Interment will be in Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
