Sheryl Neeleman

Sherri was born in Iowa City, Iowa, on May 2, 1944, and later moved with her family to Salt Lake City, Utah. She graduated from Highland High School and attended the University of Utah and Brigham Young University. While she was primarily a homemaker, she periodically ventured into the workplace as an administrative assistant.

Sherri is survived by her husband, Stanley Duane Neeleman, her children, Lori Neeleman and James Andrew Neeleman (Brandie Hyatt), her grandchildren, Briahnna, Branson, Hailey and Alexis, and her brothers, Harold Keith Hunt (Carolyn Sedgwick) and Lowell Ernest Hunt (Diane Rohlfing). She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Hunt Neeleman, and her parents, Harold Gilbert Hunt and Dorothy Petro Hunt.

In her courageous battle against the relentless advance of her illness, Sherri was sustained and comforted by her unwavering faith in the Savior’s atoning sacrifice. Her faith was the product of her wholehearted embrace of the Savior’s promise of eternal life and her resolute willingness to submit herself to His divine will.

Sherri’s love and concern for her family was a motivating and guiding force in her life. With her husband, Stan, she enjoyed a special relationship of love, trust and faith that enabled them to confront the challenges of life in unity and mutual support and remain steadfast in pursuit of the promised blessings of their eternal marriage. To her children and grandchildren, she exemplified with enthusiasm and integrity the gospel-based values of compassion, patience, forgiveness and unconditional love. To the members of her extended family, she was an inspiring role model as a wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

While the primary focus of Sherri’s life was to foster and protect the temporal and spiritual well-being of her family, her sphere of goodly influence extended well beyond family boundaries as she unhesitatingly responded to calls to serve in various positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including Primary President, Young Women President, Relief Society Counselor, Temple Matron and companion to her husband in his service as a Mission President.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon, Monday, December 29, 2014, at the Valley View 6th Ward Chapel, 2000 East 3900 South. There will be a viewing on Sunday, December 28, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 Highland Drive, and on Monday at the chapel prior to services from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. Interment will be at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
