

Shirley was the second of three children born to Fred Miles Eakin and Leah Gibbs Eakin in Salt Lake City, Utah on April 25, 1939.
She married Gail M. Burrows, in the Salt Lake Temple on October 17, 1957. Together they had six wonderful children: Jeffrey, Janet, Michael, David, Anne and Catherine.
Shirley’s greatest happiness in life was spending time with her children and thirteen grandchildren, all of whom she loved unconditionally. She loved supporting her family in their various sporting events, dance competitions and other activities. She was a true Ute fan for many decades and always followed their athletic programs closely. Since the time she worked on Ronald Reagan’s 1976 presidential campaign, Shirley was a political activist in her community.
Shirley was a strong woman with a great heart and will be greatly missed by all those who were blessed to know her.
Shirley is survived by Gail Burrows; children Jeffrey Burrows (Jill), Michael Burrows (Janet), David Burrows (Melissa), Anne Burrows and Catherine Chambers (Steven); grandchildren Thomas, Adam, Rachel, Jonathan, Lauren, Ethan, Zachary, Madeline, Isabelle, Andrew, Michael, Abigail and Amelia.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter Janet.
A graveside service to honor Shirley’s life will be held on Saturday, March 18, 1:00 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah.
