Sione Langi

Sione Lupeni Langi, 78, a.k.a. Big Mama of Laie, Hawaii passed away in Orange County, California on May 20, 2024 surrounded by his sisters Latai Moeakiola, Mele Pousima and her children.

Sione was born to Lupeni ‘Ufi and Milika Fainu Langi of Faleloa, Felemea, Tefisi and Nei’afu, Tonga. He is survived by his son Positoni of Lapaha, Tonga; 5 grandsons: Positoni, Vili Pulini, Otukinekina, Sione Lupeni Jr. and Hola Ahohako; siblings: Viliami, Halahuni, Latai Moeakiola, Lihai Tonga, Elikisoni, Mapu and Mele Pousima; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings Pauline, Ma’afu and Lili; and his wife, Jean White.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Salt Lake Utah Tongan Stake Center, 1621 South 1100 East, Salt Lake City, Utah. A family viewing will be held from 7:30am-11:30am, followed by a church service at 12:00pm. Internment at Wasatch Lawn Memorial, 3401 South Highland Drive, Millcreek, Utah.
