

Stuart Midgley Manookin, 93, passed away peacefully September 9, 2015 from causes incident to age. Born November 17, 1921 in Salt Lake City to Kerrigan Mark Manookin and Agnes Park Midgley. Attended Salt Lake City schools, Denver University, earned a masters degree from the University of Utah and did doctoral work at BYU. Served a mission to the North Central States, later transferred to the Western Canada Mission. After returning home was immediately drafted into the Army Air Corps and served in WWII. Married Shirley May Donelson April 8, 1944 and together raised four children. Shirley died April 26, 1996. Married Elaine Clive Romney January 30, 2001, she died May 5, 2010. Was an educator having taught history, english, and instructional media in public schools and at BYU and U of U. Active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served faithfully in many callings throughout his life. Preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robert Park Manookin. Survived by his children, John (Kim) Manookin, Jeffrey Manookian, Scott (Jean) Manookin, Wendy (Bob) Elkington, 11 grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 12, 2015 at the Grandview LDS Chapel, 2930 S 2000 East, Salt Lake City. Viewing prior to the services from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
