Tana Neeley; a cherished daughter, sister, & friend; lost her battle with cancer on October 31, 2018. A daughter of Brig. General Richard Cox Neeley & Jeanette Montana Torkelson, she was born on September 25, 1945 in Kearns, Utah.
Air Force assignments took her family to Hawaii, Texas, Kansas, Alabama, Missouri, Utah, Massachusetts, Georgia, & Maine. She made friends & had choice experiences at each location. She graduated from Bangor High School in 1963 & from the University of Utah in 1967. She majored in Special Education & taught school in Salt Lake City for 36 years & in Las Vegas for 8 years. She was awarded “Teacher of the Year” by the governor of Utah.
As a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints she was a gifted gospel teacher & served as president of both Primary & Young Women.
Preceded in death by her parents, she is survived by a brother Richard Cox Neeley Jr., a “sister” mentor Jean Oborn, & a foster son Michael Roberts.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at the Taylors Grove Ward, 1365 W 4800 S, Taylorsville, Utah with a viewing from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at the chapel. Burial at Wasatch Lawn Cemetery.
