After High School, Terry served in the U.S. Navy and returned home to married his high school sweetheart, Jacque Tripp on September 29th, 1966.
Terry obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Utah. After graduation in 1971, he pursued a career as an electrician. Humble beginnings as a lineman, stretching lines across rural parts of the western US, he eventually earned the title of Master Electrician. His hard work made it possible for Jacque to earn her Master’s in Education.
All the while, Terry and Jacque started a family with a modest home in Holladay, Utah. First receiving Patrick John and four years later, Bryan William. Six years thereafter, came Jeffrey Lee.
As the family grew, Terry and Jacque purchased a new home in Sandy, Utah where they would ultimately reside and share their lives with wonderful neighbors for the next 41 years.
Terry became known as the go-to guy for tools and with handy-man help.
He enjoyed a career as master electrician, was a skilled mechanic and greatly valued education and hard work.
Terry was passionate about learning, the outdoors, baseball and The Boy Scouts of America. He found great joy in sharing his passion with sons and family.
He coached for the WBBA of East Sandy for more than 10 years. He was known as one of the toughest and hardest working coaches in the region. Despite being tough, he taught his players a passion for the sport and joy of competition.
During the developing years of his boys lives, he spent many nights weekends and summers serving as a scout leader for Troop 340, espousing many skills to the young men rising through the ranks.
True to his high standards for work and learning, many Boy Scouts found his fist aid merit badge one of the most difficult to achieve.
Terry grew up and found his belonging in the outdoors. Spending much of his healthy life in the pursuit of game, birds and fish.
He was a talented angler, and felt a particular connection with Henry’s Lake, Idaho, first introduced to the hidden spot by Jacque’s father, Jack.
After many years of hard work, the physical toll on Terry’s body led to a new career path of instruction as electrical trade faculty at the JTC. His students rose to the height of national competition.
Although a quiet man, he was always ready with an answer to your question.
Terry and Jacque were blessed with two grandchildren, Sawyer Patrick and Brittany Christine.
The family are proud to call Terry our husband, father and grandfather and would like to offer our deepest gratitude to all who have cared for Terry throughout life.
