Terry served as a Bomb Site Maintenance Engineer in the European Theater during World War II, obtaining the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in the Army Air Corps.
Returning from World War II, Terry married Jayne Broadbent on August 28, 1947 in the Salt Lake Temple.
After they were married Terry and Jayne spent the next two years serving together as Tournament Administrator and Field Secretary running the Professional Golf Association tournaments.
As a professional golfer Terry was an Assistant Pro at Augusta National Golf Club, and Head Professional at Cape Fear Country Club in Wilmington, North Carolina. Wanting to raise their family in Utah, Terry accepted the Head Golf Professional position at the newly opening Willow Creek Country Club, where he worked for 22 years. During that time Terry served as President of the Rocky Mountain Section of the PGA and Regional Vice President of the National PGA. In 1975 he won the Utah PGA Tournament and was voted Golfer of the Year for the Rocky Mountain Section.
Terry supported Jayne while she served as a counselor in the Young Women’s General Presidency, then later enjoyed serving together as missionaries at the Salt Lake Temple Square Mission.
He was the consummate handyman, able to fix anything with baleen wire, duct tape and his supply of used screws, nuts and bolts.
Terry tenderly cared for his beloved Jayne allowing her to remain in their home during the final years of her life and then endured his own failing health with dignity, patience and good humor. Terry was tenderly cared for by his grandson and granddaughter during the final years of his life allowing him to also remain at home, for which we will be eternally grateful.
Survived by children Mike (Tami) and Mary Jayne. 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He is survived by his sister, Laurelie Monsen, brother Don T. Malan, brother –in-law – Stanley Allen.
