Virginia is survived by her sons Mark (Denise), Paul (Tijana), and Stephen (Shelly). Virginia is now joining her late husband and love of her life Robert (Bob) Hamilton, Jane Bertsch (her sister), and many other family members who have passed before her.
Her legacy will live on in her grandchildren Jessica, Ana, Teague, Kira, Elliot, and Henry as well as her two great-grandchildren Eva Rose and Wiley.
Her friendship and laughter will be missed by many friends at Cottonwood Creek Senior living and the many others she met along the way through her many adventures.
Virginia’s life started in Kansas on the family farm. Driving the tractor (with Cousin Nancy) and raising chickens were some stories she loved to share. Later after marrying Bob, they moved to Colorado where they raised their sons. Virginia’s professional life led her to become town manager of Mt. Crested Butte, CO where she led the community in building bike trails for all to enjoy the outdoors. She spent many hours volunteering with the local ski club as well. After leaving Colorado, Virginia and Bob moved to Salt Lake City to be closer to their children and grandchildren. They spent many days and miles in their RVs traveling the country. Virginia also enjoyed building homes. Her other past times were filled with countless books, long walks with her dogs and baking many pecan pies. She accomplished much in her 89 years through hard work, determination, and by making her path on her own terms.
The family will be celebrating her memory and feisty personality, eating Mexican food and drinking margaritas.
In lieu of flowers and a formal memorial service spend time with your family or loved ones. Share a treat or a drink, take an adventure, play a game of cards, or just take a nice walk together. These were her favorite memories with her family and friends. But most importantly, read and continue to create your story each day!
“It’s hard to turn the page when you know someone won’t be in the next chapter, but the story must go on!” Thomas Wilder
