

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Walter Heyman, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and kind soul, who peacefully departed this life on June 30, 2024 at the age of 89.
Born on January 4, 1935, in Salt Lake City, Walter Heyman was the cherished son of Walter Kurt Heyman and Louise Frieda Colditz. He grew up alongside his four siblings, forming bonds that would last a lifetime. He was a talented athlete, he ran track during his high school years, showcasing his dedication and perseverance at South High School.
Following his high school graduation, he served a mission in Frankfurt, Germany, where his faith and commitment shone brightly. He married his first love, Lorene Hertig, in the Salt Lake Temple, June 22, 1959. They created a foundation of love and devotion that would shape their family. They had three beautiful children.
He was deeply involved in the Boy Scouts of America, dedicating countless hours to mentoring and guiding the youth in his East Millcreek neighborhood. His influence and positive impact on the community’s young people are immeasurable and will be felt for generations to come.
He was a man of gentle spirit and immense kindness, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a warm smile. His love for model trains, was a lifelong passion, and he spent countless hours tinkering and building beautiful tracks. His workshop was a testament to his skill and creativity in woodworking, where he crafted countless pieces that will be cherished by his family for generations.
After the passing of his first wife, Walter Heyman found love again and married Irene Ann Christiansen in the Salt Lake Temple, August 6, 1992. Together, they moved to American Fork, where they built a new chapter of their lives filled with love and companionship.
Walter Heyman is survived by his devoted children; Leslie (Chris) Knaphus 4 children and 7 grandkids, Tyler Heyman 2 children and 1 grandchild, Aaron (Cynthia) Heyman 5 dogs, Teresa (Carl) Sillitoe 4 children and 5 grandchildren, Wendy Tullis 3 children and 7 grandchildren, Allison (Greg) Popp 4 children and 2 grandchildren, his Siblings; Bernice (Richard Jones/Joe Nichols) Heyman, Frank (Sonnie) Heyman, and Wilford (Sheri) Heyman. Preceded in death LuAnne VanUitert. He also leaves behind many friends, his legacy of kindness, faith, and service lives on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A celebration of life will be held to honor his memory. Saturday July 6 from 11-1 at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary 3402 S Highland Dr.
Rest in peace, Walter Heyman. Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure. You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.
