My deepest condolences to the Petterson family.  My sister and I used to babysit the Petterson kids.  Clifford was such a fun loving  little boy., I loved going over there to play with him.  God needed another angel , and he couldn’t have chose a more perfect little boy as I remember him.

Our families go back a long way....  our grandparents/parents were friends forever.
I used to babysit for Janine, Cliff, Lauren & Andrea....   I taught them all how to swim....   each one of them a special, unique, beautiful and talented person.    
I will remember Cliff as a smart,charming, gentle soul with a smile that could melt your heart.   
Cliff's long battle took its's toll on all of you.  Be gentle with yourselves and each other.  All of you share more than DNA.....  you have a history that will forever connect you....  embrace it, all of it....  the good & the bad.  It's part of who you are.

Some defined Cliff as a addict. But those who actually knew him - saw past that. They saw someone else entirely. They saw his charisma. His quick wit. His huge heart. How loyal he was to his friends. You saw a smile that caused a crinkle in the corner of his mouth. If you knew him - then you knew he loved animals especially his dog, Bella. Or that he could eat 2 bowls of cereal (at every meal) followed by 2 devil dogs. That he loved the band, Rush. You would also know he was a huge flirt. With women of any age. You would also most definitely know he loved his mother more than any other person on earth. She felt the same. Even in his darkest moments she was there for him. Like when he would tell her through his own tears, ‘I don’t want to live this anymore, mom.’ But make no mistake, Cliff wanted to live. He wanted to be a better son and brother. A better father to his Angelina and Cliff. He wanted to feel like a man. To work. To love. To be able to take care of himself. He certainly didn’t want to live a life defined by addiction. He wanted to get clean. More than anything. But he was fighting a demon as dark and as big as the night sky. And he lost that battle on Easter Sunday. A few hours earlier, his mom was in church. She prayed for God to save her son. She thinks God wasn’t listening to her that night. But just maybe God WAS listening... to Cliff. God was hearing and seeing his suffering. And maybe God did exactly what his mom asked - to save Cliff from a life of pain he could no longer control or endure. The fact that Cliff died on Easter Sunday- as painful as that is - is evidence of God's mercy. Many of you have family and friends who are suffering with addiction. To you, I offer this: As long as they are breathing, there's hope. Never give up on them. Tell them they can beat it. And before you dismiss someone as just a addict, consider this: ‘Be kind, for everyone you know is fighting a battle you know nothing about.’

Cliff, we have known each other since school.  We reconnected and I am so grateful that we did.   Even though you were going through your stuff, you made sure you were there for me when Jordan died and my ex left.  I will never forget our talks, falling asleep watching movies and you telling the nurses I was your fiancé so they would talk to me I stead of you.  You told them I was nicer lol.  Cliff we always said we had love in our hearts and would always hold on to that.  I will miss you more than you know my friend.  Prayers to your family.   

Knew you since you were a baby, friends with your mom for years, although did not see you often. when I did you were the nicest, sweetest  person to be with and had such a gentle way about you.  You surely will be missed by all especially your mom, rest in peace Cliff and the Smith family condolences to your family
