Maryann, 
Dave was fun-lovng, giving, and so quick-witted!  His stories about his golf games, poker hands, or "taming his palms" made us smile!  
We miss him, but are thankful for the opportunity to have had him in our lives.
You're always in our thoughts and prayers.

Dearest Maryann,
I read many of the beautiful tributes to my parents from this site, the other night. Despite their stages of poor mental health, it was obvious that they were both very moved by the writings, especially the one heartfelt tribute from John. I myself felt so many similarities between Dave and my own Dad: "a simple man,"a man of few words,""he always fixed what was wrong,""never a man with idle hands" and most of all, "a man who never stopped loving his son, no matter what." LAst night at dinner my Mom stated that she wanted to be included in the tributes and I ran and got a piece of paper, knowing that Mom's "wheels were open." Here's what she dictated to me; "To all of the Knab family: We send our condolences and our sad sympathies at this time to Maryann, sons John, Chris & danny and their wives, and all of the grandchildren (especially Jake). We will keep you in our hearts and prayers. Love Marilyn, & Frank and our family" Coming from Mom, at this stage of her life, her words are a true blessing. We think that Dave had a good life which was so enriched by his marriage to you, We are all so thankful for the 35 year friendship that we have had with both of you and you will remain in our prayers. God Bless. Love, Wendell and the entire Schott family (including the dogs) as well as Harry DeJesus and his family.

Maryann, my prayers are with you and the boys, during this most painful moment in your life. I pray that GOD will wrap his arms around you and your family to console you and also provide you with the strength you may need to get through this.

To Maryann and the Knab Family--Please find comfort in the knowledge Dave is with the Lord forever.  When we would sit on his porch at five o'clock in the morning for that first cup of coffee, he would reverently discuss his love for Maryann, his sons (who made good life choices), and his grandchildren.  He said he could never get enough family.  You are his legacy.  A legacy of honor and devotion.  May the Lord always walk with you.

Hello Maryann,  I am sorry to hear of the loss of your husband, David Knab.  From the pictures I can see he was very happy and well loved. You have wonderful memories to share and to hold on to. God will continue to  bless you and your family.

DAVID T. KNAB   MY FATHER

I loved and respected my father greatly. There was never a moment in my life that I didn't think he loved me nor had my back.  He was a simple man that lived his life to the fullest, through the good times and the bad. He was a man of few words but commanded such respect from the people that knew him. He was not a schooled man but that never stopped him from teaching himself new things throughout his life. If he could figure out a way how to do it himself he always did.  As a young boy I remember him reading those auto mechanic books and then the next day most of his car engine parts would be laid out along the sidewalk. Somehow he always fixed what was wrong and gave that car a little more time. It's funny that when I had a young family and my first house I now remember reading those how to books so I could build a deck or fix a leaky faucet. My father had such great patience, something I truly wish I had inherited from him. As I think back I am truly amazed at the things my father accomplished. He worked two jobs most of his life, leaving the house at 6am and coming home at 9pm. Believe it or not I think he only took one sick day in thirty years. But he found the time on the weekends to learn and experience new things. He loved watching his sons play sports and often tried to help us find more in ourselves. He taught himself how to read music and play several instruments including the guitar, sax and trumpet.  He even taught himself how to paint landscapes by watching that boring guy on TV. Some were actually good and I have one hanging in my office. He was never a man with idle hands.  Later on in life he went on to get his GED diploma which he was very proud of.  My dad was even a good golfer often shooting in the low 90's and high 80's.  Considering he was about 60 the first time he swung a golf club I think that's pretty impressive.  He was so proud of his family and loved all his grandchildren deeply. He was married to my mom for almost 48 years and loved her so much. I witnessed a lot of good and bad times in my life but watching the love and dedication they had for each other was truly amazing. My father was an 11 year cancer survivor and a fighter and left us exactly the way he wanted to.    Your Loving Son     John

Grandma, John, Jonny, Uncle Chris, Uncle Dan and The Knab Family,

I remember Grandpa watching Jonny and I play football as far back as I can remember. He was always there to support us. For the last 10 years of my life I Truly believe I have had an extra set of Grandparents, and I have to thank Grandpa and Grandma Knab for welcoming me and allowing me into their family and into their hearts. Grandpa was always there to give advice about anything especially the Military. Grandpa, I love you, you will be missed, and forever in my heart.
