Diane Frances Cordova, aged 72, died peacefully on June 15, 2016 at her Coram, NY residence after a two year struggle with cancer. Diane was born January 24, 1944 in Bronx, NY, the daughter of Felice Cimini and Diana Cimini.
Diane thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her two granddaughters watching them play sports and become engaged in their extracurricular activities such as horseback riding and dance. Diane was an avid quilter and miniature collector where she shared this passion with many of her friends in New York and Florida. Diane enjoyed traveling as child and adult, where she particularly loved going on cruises in the Caribbean with her husband Guido.
In 1965, Diane married Guido Cordova and soon thereafter began her career as a nurse. Soon after getting married, Diane began building a large family where she would go on to have 5 children. After her short career as a nurse, Diane focused on raising her 5 children, while going back to school to earn certifications to begin a long and successful career in professional sales. Soon after retirement, Diane and Guido began splitting their time between their residence in NY and FL. Diane loved FL, particularly the “Space Coast” where they resided because of her fondness for space exploration and the Kennedy Space Center. Diane was a frequent visitor of the Disney Theme Parks and often used their characters and style to inspire her extensive miniature collections.
Diane is survived by her husband of 50 years Guido Cordova; her sister Donna and her husband Thomas Bodish; sons, Louis Cordova of Coram, NY, Glenn Cordova (and wife Lalena Cordova) of Effort, PA, Mitchell Cordova of Estero, FL, Michele Mensch (and husband Mark Mensch) of Mastic Beach, NY, Kerry Cordova of Coram; two granddaughters (Julia Cordova and Cecilia Cordova); three nieces and a number of other relatives and close friends.
Reposing at the O.B. Davis Funeral Homes, 1001 Route 25A, Miller Place, New York 11764. Visitation is on Sunday June 19, 2016 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Closing prayer is on Monday, June 20 at 10 AM. Interment is to follow at Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, New York.
