Fran was born on October 21, 1932, in New York City and grew up an only child to Louis and Florence Ambrosio, in Richmond Hill. His mother died when he was nine years old and a year later his father married Carrie DeFina. Fran attended Villanova University and graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering. He was drafted into the Army Corps of Engineers and often reminisced of his novel experiences while stationed in Japan.
He loved his work as a project manager, coordinating all the trades that go into building construction in New York City. Aside from working with demanding personalities like Donald Trump and advertising legen Ed McCabe, he was most proud of overseeing the Macy's Herald Center renovation in Manhattan.
Fran married Violetta Pluchino on October 25, 1958 and together they raised three children in Queens, New York. He was good-natured and enjoyed simple pleasures: bowling, playing basketball, traveling with his wife and friends, summers on Long Island, and family-get togethers. He is survived by his son Louis, daughter Caroline, granddaughter Francesca, great-grandson Anthony John and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his wife Violet and his youngest son, John.
