

her husband of 62 years. Helen and Lee moved from Brooklyn to Amityville,
L.I. in 1956 to raise their family in the suburbs. Loving mother of Meryl Gunther
and her husband John; Gary and his wife Renee and Richard and his wife Karen.
Cherished grandmother of Russell, Jessica, Alexander and David. Adored sister of
Paul de la Fuente (Lee). Also known as “Grandma” to Kristina, Christopher and
Jack, “Great-Grandma” to Jackson and Sadie. After more than 25 years of service,
she retired from Polytechnic Institute of New York as Director of Academic
Operations. The “Helen Warren Leadership Award” is a commencement prize she
established in 1985, and is given annually to the woman engineer with the
highest academic achievement at NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering. In 1977
Helen co-founded the “110 Center for Business and Professional Women”, which
has since become the “Long Island Center for Business and Professional Women”.
Memorial visitation at O.B. Davis Funeral Home, 1001 Route 25A, Miller Place, L.I.
on Friday from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. Prayer service at 1:30 PM. Interment to
follow at Calverton National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate
donations in her memory to either The Helen Warren Leadership Award at NYU
