Dear Jay,

I think about you every day.

Almost all my childhood memories involve you.  My favorite memories are of us just playing: playing in the woods building forts; playing wiffle ball in the front yard; playing when we went camping.

One of my favorite memories is of us "sliding" down the river when we went camping in the Smokey Mountains, and then we caught a fish and cooked it.  I tell that story all the time.

I will always treasure those memories -- although they make me both want to cry and smile at the same time.

Watch over Charlotte & Isabella -- I told them you will always be in their hearts.  They will carry your memories and the happiness you brought them.  We love you and we miss you.

Rest easy, Jay -- I wish you peace.

There will never be one like you.  I lose my breath just thinking about you...and thinking about not being able to see you again.  I know I can speak for those that loved you dearly that our hearts sink at the thought of you.  You were my brodder, a brother to me and Joey, a son to mommy and daddy...a person that we can never replace.  Why you are gone in this world will always be a question to us, it will always be an empty space in our hearts.  All I ask is that you watch over us, 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭 us when you can, and send signs to let us know that you are here and you are okay.  We can only try to find peace in our days, by remembering you and feeling that you are near.  Day by day... that’s all we can do.  Stay close, my brodder. Jay,
I've had the privilege to get to know you over the last five years, since meeting Nikki.  In that time we've celebrated holidays, gone to Mets games, and took a few road trips. You were always laughing, cracking a joke, and making those around you smile. You've taken time out of your days to help us out around the house and you've definitely saved me from some of Nikki's field trips to the lavender fields and other places (although I knew she wasn't too bummed about me not going because she got to spend time with her bro).  I'll remember you as someone who would do anything to help the people around him and will smile when I think of the times we shared. Love you Jay. We'll miss you but we also know you will be with us every day.

Out of all the fond memories I have of Jason, one of the funniest was when all the family went to Savino’s restaurant. Jason was probably around 7 years old. I ordered Chopped Chicken Liver as an appetizer. Which was served by the scoop full in a dish. Jason, thinking it was some strange type of Ice Cream to which he said...why can Uncle Rob get Dessert before dinner? So I offered Jason some. Well to this day I can’t forget the look on his face once he tried it. He certainly wasn’t expecting that flavor.
Jason, you were loved, admired and were the light of many lives. Memories of you will live on.

It’s been a while since we have seen each other,  but you remain in my heart like a brother.  We have had so many good memories together. You and your family treated me like I was one of their own, even taking me to the Jersey Shore.   I still can hear your laugh and see your smile.   You are truly missed greatly.  You will always be my brother I never had.   We will meet again one day Jay...  I miss you.   May you rest in peace..

I haven’t seen you in many years, but the memories of the MPHS class of 97 will never leave me.  I have nothing but fond memories of you from throughout the years.  Thank you for being a kind and gentile soul.  Sending love and prayers to all who grieve.

Jason and I shared being uncles to two amazing niece’s.  Whenever we’d run into each other out and about or back near our hometown, “whats up uncle!” followed by an embrace is how we‘d greet each other every time.  He was a kind person with a big heart and I know he was extremely proud to be Charlotte and Isabella’s uncle.  RIP Jason

The good die young. I never had a bad memory of Jason, he always had a smile on and just wanted the people around him to be happy. I wish he was here with us today, but I know we’ll all do our best to let Jason live through us as we carry on his positivity through our every day life. Rest In Peace knowing you have family and friends that are thinking about you 👏

Words can’t begin to express the loss we feel. My first memory of you is as a classmate — you were quiet, funny & kind. As Joe & I began our relationship, you naturally became part of the family & I began to see you as a brother. Your heart was so good. You cared for others and loved a good joke and laugh. When Joe was deployed, seeing you brought me comfort. When we had the girls, we were privileged to watch you become an Uncle. You were so great with C & Iz; they adore you! You laughed, joked, had fun and gave awesome gifts. The bond the girls shared with you was special ✨ We are lucky to have been a part of your life, to have known you and to have been able to witness your kindness, generosity and silliness. We know you will be all around watching over everyone — still making jokes (celebrating bdays at any opportunity and hopefully finding a good whoopee cushion!) and helping whenever and wherever you can. You were always there if we ever needed you. You would have given the last shirt off your back for someone. We are so sorry your life here has ended and while we will miss your physical presence, we will not stop thinking about you, talking to you and about you and will always look for  and find signs that you’re still here with us. We were neighbors and friends all these years and we watched your children grow. We know how close and loving you all are as a family and are so sorry for your loss. There are no words when there is so much sadness. Our sympathies are with you all.

I’ve know Jay and Nikki my entire life. We grew up across the street from one another and went through endless adolescent experiences together. Some awkward, some hilarious, many left for nights of drinking and reminiscing. 

Nikki has always been my best friend, now for 36 years, and Jay has always been hers.  She looked up to him when we were younger, and looked after him as we grew older. Her love for him is unconditional. It’s beautiful to see. 

I feel blessed to have been a part of the Ruppenstein family for so long. Loving, kind, open, warm - all words we’ve used to describe Joy, Richard, Joe and the extended Eddys.  

They love Jay with everything they have and his memory will live on always deep within their hearts. Rest In Peace dear Jason, I hope you are watching over your  beautiful family now, and forever.

I don’t even know where to begin! I moved to Long Island when I was in the 5th grade. Soon after I became friends with Nikki and the rest of the girls, which I refer to today as my sisters! The amount of hours we would spend in Nikkis room blasting music, and just being girls, Jay never complained... I think we were all a little afraid of Jay lol. Big brothers can be scary! But as we grew up, Jay became more present, and a friendship was born! Super Bowl parties, haunted houses, New Years gatherings! I never thought I would never see you again! You became apart of our lives and I am so grateful for that! No matter how much time passes your memory will live on in all of us! We are going to miss you Jay!! Love you Jay ❤️ It’s not good bye! I loved Jay in a couple of ways.  In true annoying, best friend of his little sister fashion, Jason was my first crush.  He was a mysterious older Brother that wanted nothing to do with a group of 13 year old weirdo girls.  He put up with us though,
just one wall away from his room playing our music loud and on repeat while his sister and her friends were just figuring out what it meant to grow up, all just one wall away.  I can’t begin to imagine how loud all the giggling, chatter and girl talk was for him, but he endured.  

As we got older I began to know Jay as Nikki’s protective older brother.  As I left NY, they grew closer as friends and spent more time together.  Within a few years they felt almost inseparable.  When I would come back home to visit, Jay would be there.  Sometimes we would all go down to beach, out to eat or hang out at their parents house.  A home I always felt welcomed at even when Joe would tell me to go home :).  Jay and Nikki picked me up on one of those visits and I remember my Mom was outside gardening, she came to the car and started asking him landscaping questions, he was really kind to her and I still see them laughing and chatting that day.  Those times were really fun, many might not know but the people closest to Jay know he was a goof, easy to share a laugh and inside joke with.  

I loved him the most as a friend.  I’m going to miss him dearly.  He was so incredibly loved by his family and his long time closest friends.  He was fiercely loyal, sweet and so funny. 

The Ruppenstein family are kind, loving, accepting without judgement, just the most wonderful people you could meet.  I pray some peace finds them as his beautiful soul is put to rest.  My forever love is with them today and always.

On May 28, 2020 we received the heartbreaking news that you had passed away.  None of us were expecting this and none of us knew how to handle it and accept it. You are one of my best friends big brothers... the one that would mess with us when we were younger... I was afraid to leave Nikki’s room when we were at the house because I didn’t want to get picked on in the hall way! Fast forward, you became Nikki’s best friend and in turn our friend.  There are so many memories.... Hanging out at Cedar beach - remember when the 3 of us passed out for hours in the sun - BEST NAP EVER - and the woke up and all wanted lobster rolls? From joking about who was going to get all the Green Bean Casserole at Thanksgiving and playing silly trivia games, fun times at Citi field during Met games and of course... jumping out of a plane together! It all clicked that you accepted me as a friend when you started calling my Spanky like your sister does.  

I am so sad that we won’t see your smiling face again, hear your infectious laugh or just have you here in body. You are so very loved and missed but we will keep your memory alive.

Watch over your family and friends and try not to make too much trouble up there with Greg.  May you rest in eternal peace, my friend. Love Spanky xoxo 

My sincere condolences to your entire family. I will miss Rupp immensely. I cannot begin to write about all the fun and crazy times we had down Port, at Cedar Beach, at your home, just everywhere. I am smiling while writing this and remembering.  Jason was so kind. I miss him.

I am so so sad to not be there with you all, remembering Jason. He is greatly missed by everyone who knew him, I am sure. 
He had a "tough guy" exterior- that is until you've seen him give a little kiddo a piggyback ride, or read them a nighttime story. I really only spent time with Jason in Haiti, and feel so grateful for the time I had to get to know him. Haitian rum and cokes will bring out many stories! 
I am deeply saddened for your loss, and for the loss of Jason's spirit in this world. Thinking of you all.

      I’ll always remember you laughing and having a good time. You made our family brighter. Our cousin’s weekend was the last I got to spend with you and I’ll forever cherish that memory.
