Margaret H. Nittoli

Margaret H. Nittoli, age 97, of Ridge, died peacefully on February 18th at the Kanas Hospice Center in Westhampton Beach. Born September 14th, 1922 in Flushing, NY, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Mary Horn. She was the devoted mother of Andrew Nittoli, and mother-in-law to Julie Nittoli. Margaret was predeceased by her loving husband, Anthony, and son, Kenneth. She was the youngest and last surviving sibling of the Horn family, predeceased by her sisters Johanna, Mary, Elizabeth, and Hedwig, and brothers Joseph and Walter. Her brothers Harry, John and David had passed in their infancy. She loved and is survived by her nieces and nephews Eileen, Kathy, Barbara, John, Michael, Steven, Susan, Christina, Donna, Donald, and Robert, as well as many other great nieces and nephews.

Margaret was active throughout her life. As a teenager, she loved to ride horses and rode regularly. Her love of horseback riding is something she spoke about frequently. Margaret worked as a bookkeeper, and then in her home, raising her two sons. She took on the volunteer position of village clerk and Treasurer of Laurel Hollow, for many years. She loved swimming and enjoyed the beach in Orient Point regularly. Margaret was a member of a quilting club for years, and one of her quilts hangs in Orient Museum. She was also a fierce Bridge player and never missed her card games. When Margaret moved to Leisure Village, she became a member and treasurer of Catholic Daughters. She continued to play Bridge weekly until she was well in to her 90’s. Margaret loved life!

A visitation for Margaret will be held Sunday, February 23, 2020 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at O.B. Davis Funeral Homes, 1001 Route 25A, Miller Place, New York 11764. Funeral Mass Monday, February 24, 2020 at 10:00 AM at St. Mark's Roman Catholic Church, 105 Randall Road, Shoreham, NY 11786. Interment to follow at St. Agnes Cemetery, 523 Front Street, Greenport, NY 11944.
