Thinking of you so often!  You were so great to work with at Shoreham Wading River.

Out of sight but always lovingly remembered.   A very special person who lit up a room and was an inspiration to all.

Has it been four years?  Dear Tricia, out of sight but never out of mind.  How can someone so special ever be forgotten?  So many events, words, and locations trigger the importance and loveliness that was Tricia.  If earthly messages can transcend to the beyond, I would want Tricia to know that she is loved beyond words and sorely missed.  RIP with the many quietly recited prayers.

To know Tricia was to love her.  She was a special lady.... full of warmth, kindness, intelligence, and talent.  Loved and admired, she is not forgotten in my heart.  

I can still hear Tricia's voice and her laugh.  I see her in my mind's eye walking the black dog, Indie, who pulled her so forcefully while she held on steadfastly in front of my house.   I remember her comforting me in the loss of my dad and she said something that got me through it.  I remember her visits at our home with a pot of mussels.  I remember her beautiful hands and nails.   I remember her ability to take charge.   Dear Tricia was a mover and a shaker.  Someone I admired and loved .   I pray to see her in heaven and know that she is guiding those that she loved.  Tricia was a special person and God sent her to bring us joy and to help him in heaven. 

Trish was an amazing and well respected professor. I am sending my condolences to her family. She was such a great teacher and had so much to share with the world. She will truly be missed.

My deepest condolences to the family of Tricia Elliott McCabe.  After attending IJ with she and her sisters, I had the fun time of being one of the bus girls at The Wagon Wheel back in the day and I never considered it work as we were always laughing and having fun. Kevin, you were part of the crew as well.
Years later, my late husband and I had the great pleasure of running into her again at The Printers Devil. Again we always laughed.
I will always remember her with fondness for her kind and caring way. She will be sorely missed by he family and friends but please know she is smiling down on you from the heavens. God's Blessings and may the sun always shine on her.

I have so many wonderful memories of Trish...Too many to list! I will forever remember our hikes, the beach, girls weekends in Vermont and book club...These are the memories I will forever hold in my heart of Trish...
Trish was the true meaning of “Mama bear”. Her family was everything to her. She will be missed by so many, but never forgotten. Heaven gained a wonderful angel...

"Tish" was one of the first deep friendships I made at SWR.  Nearly two decades of knowing this wonderful, insightful, loving woman has enriched my life.  For nearly a decade, we shared lunch in the back office of the high school library. The days when there was time for lunch and the "breaking of bread." When I think of her, I think of those lunches or talks at the threshhold to her office door with Kris and Pat.  She would come in after a weekend and I'd say, "What did you do?" She was wonder woman...most would say they did chores, watched a movie.  Not Tish.  She was always painting or tiling, decorating or planting.  She was the woman who could truly do it all.  She possessed a unique gift for being able to multi-task without ever compromising her time with her family - the heart and soul of her life.  I loved listening to stories of each of her family members. Her life was a reflection of her - beautiful.  When she had to travel to other buildings as a result of schedule changes, I have to admit, my life at SWR was never the same.  I've missed those daily talks and lunches, for she made every day brighter and lovelier. She was strong and capable.  She also fought for her students and had a unique ability to help them achieve incredibly difficult goals.  She helped them believe in their abilities and to work hard.  A fierce advocate, she was.  But she was my friend and an incredible one, at that.  I will miss her all the days of my life.

Trish had a way of making everyone at SWR - her students, their parents and her colleagues - feel valued.  She had excellent insight, unending patience and perseverance, a wonderful playfulness, and impressive creativity.  She never stopped learning and sharing what she learned.  I was delighted when any of my speech students also worked with Trish because I knew that we would check-in and collaborate throughout the year.  I saw how the kids loved her.  Whether we were brainstorming, sharing student progress or just chatting, I always walked away with a big smile.

And it was clear how she adored her family, always showing off pictures of her grandkids.  My thoughts are with her family and all of the people touched by such a wonderful woman.  Trish will be sorely missed.

I had the pleasure of meeting Trish McCabe back in 2007.  We had  recently adopted my son from Russia who was going to attend  the second grade at Wading River Elementary  and spoke only Russian 
As soon as I met her I knew things were going to be alright. 
She was extremely devoted to the kids , empathetic, and proficient.  
Needless to say, my son  loved going to ESL class with Mrs. 
McCabe. 
In  2012, we adopted another child from Russia and she was going to enter the 6th grade ..She also  spoke only Russian. 
Once again, Trish McCabe came to our rescue. .  
She navigated the programs, spoke to classroom  teachers and set my daughter up immediately with ESL classes.  The first thing she said to me was .. “ she will be speaking English by December, but you may not like what she has to say.”  I laughed.. To this day, my daughter still talks about Mrs. McCabe. 
I also admired how devoted Mrs. McCabe was to her own family. I am an art teacher and remember when her daughter was applying for art colleges, and how fondly Trish spoke of her. I also remember how happy she was to become a grandmother.  
Mrs. McCabe has left a positive impression on my family forever. 

I had the privilege of working with Trish in a few of my classes over the last few years.  She was always ready to jump in and add to the lessons and she was such a great force in the classroom.   I loved hearing her stories about her family and her  childhood.  She was always so funny and animated.  Having a 20 year old daughter myself, Trish was always giving me advice or guidance on how to navigate through some trying times.   Trish, you will be greatly missed.   💔💔

Trish was one of the nicest people that I ever worked with.  She helped students that were in my class and she also worked with my niece and nephew when they moved here.  She was kind, thoughtful,  professional, and hard working. Even though she was always running from building to building, she took the time to say hi and ask how you were  doing because she really cared.  You will be missed❤️  My heart goes out to your family and your sweet grand babies.  

Our deepest condolences to Kevin and the entire McCabe and Elliott families.  I have so many fond memories of Tisha.  When my mother married her father, I transferred to North Country Road Middle School mid school year.  Tisha must have already been in High School, but would often be at my new school, most likely as part of a mentorship program or something.  She would always look for me and check to make sure everything was ok with me.  When she noticed that a girl had a crush on me, and shadowed me wherever I went, Tisha thought that this was hysterical.  She never let me forget that.  That was her style.  She always looked out for others, but never missed an opportunity to enjoy a good laugh.  She semi patiently taught me to drive a manual transmission on her Dodge Dart which she was very proud of, and then she and Lisa drove me all the way to Florida to visit Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida for a sixty minute tour of the campus.  Neither one of them ever complained when I decided to attend Pace University in NYC instead.  But the memory of Tisha that sticks out to me the most, was when she owned her VW bug with the faulty starter that often required a push start.  When her car failed to start, Tisha would storm into the house and command immediate assistance.  Whoever was home at that time would race out to her car, and as we pushed the car from the back, Tisha wearing her Wagon Wheel waitress uniform, would push from the open driver side door, and when the speed was just right, she would jump in the car and pop the clutch to start the engine, and then wave to us as she drove off.  I’ve never met anyone like her, and will always remember her with love and laughter.

I met Trish over 20 years ago when we moved into the Miller Place School District. She had two kids and we had 6. Our girls, Kathryn and Kathryn (Kate) started second grade together and remained close up until college. Then life took them down different roads. I could go on about the antics of our two Kathryns but this is about Trish. I will tell you she adored her husband and kids. They came first in her life. A Mama bear. Trish was also involved greatly in her community. She would patrol her neighborhood beach looking for breakers of the rules, dune climbers, fire starters, this was her beach and don't we need more like her now. Trish was a very academic woman and had a soft spot for students with disabilities big and small. She had a way of starting a conversation with me as if I was already in the know about it. One day she pulled up to pick Kathryn up from a sleepover, looked me square in the eye and said "So I got the pudding " and looked at me as if I should say something! Then she went on about how her two little nephews sitting in the back seat (visiting from Spain) wanted pudding and chicken soup and she was bringing them home to make it! This was Trish to me, a fighter and yet a huge heart. I mourn her death as I know the pain it brings Kevin, Brian and Kathryn. Especially them. Trish is safely home now, full of peace and love that our Creator is wrapping her in. My prayers are for her family deep in asking God to help them get through their pain.

One year, I planted daffodil bulbs with Tricia for her birthday.    She would send me a photo every spring when they bloomed.  Thank you for sharing your beautiful wife, mother, sister with the rest of us.  May the love she shared so easily be the inspiration to face the days ahead.

Tish was an amazing mother, mother in law and grandmother. There are no words to express the hole she has left in all our hearts. We are holding to the imprint she left on us by knowing her and receiving the benefit of her light and energy for the years we knew her. We pray for God’s peace and healing for Kevin, Kathryn, Brian, Kelly, her granddaughters and family.

So sorry to hear of Trish's passing. I have many fond memories of her during my years of teaching at the Middle School. She always had such a wonderful, smiling face.

Trish was an amazing professor, teacher and FRIEND! I had the pleasure of being her student at StonyBrook last winter. She loved all her students and was an amazing person! She will be missed dearly! She cared about each and every one of her students at both the elementary and college level. I am deeply saddened by this news. 

My deepest condolences to the McCabe family. My name is Jen, and I Knew Trish through ESL trainings Over the years. She was a dedicated, compassionate and very caring teacher. I remember her always smiling and greeting everyone with warmth, whether she knew you already or was meeting you for the first time. We loved seeing Trish at our meetings, and we will miss her terribly. I will be praying for you all at this very difficult time 

With great sadness, I send my condolences to Pat's family and SWR friends.  I fondly remember our times together, her compassion and great sense of humor.  Pat was always focused on her students and advocated for them at every turn. She was a gracious, beautiful soul.

  My thought and prayers are with the family at this time.  The Shoreham Wading River family will greatly miss Trish.   She was a wonderful colleague and friend who I always enjoyed talking with and sharing laughs.  I loved to hear the stories of her family and grandchildren.  May God hold you in the palm of his hand, and may your spirit always live within our classrooms everyday.  You will be forever missed and thought of.  The light that you have lit in my life will never be extinguished.  Thank you Trish for your kindness, and for the love that you showed towards your students.  You have touched so may lives.  We will forever be grateful.

Trish was an AMAZING teacher.  In addition to teaching her students English, she provided them with a wonderful "home away from home" in her welcoming classroom.  Whether teaching adults or children, Trish was an expert in her field. She reached out above and beyond the curriculum to lend a hand to the entire family. She made wonderful friends and was a real team player in all of the buildings with all of the faculty and staff.  No matter how tight her schedule, she demonstrated a positive effort to effectively become part of each school's culture. She was an integrated member of our school community. She loved to tell us all about spending time with her beautiful grandchildren. She was truly looking forward to her upcoming retirement upon reaching full Social Security age, in order to spend even more time with her beloved family.  She will be greatly missed by all. xoxo

Kevin, Brian, Kelly, Kathryn and the entire McCabe/Elliott Families, we are deeply sadden for your loss. We will always remember Trish's bright smile, personality and warm heart. We have such fond memories of working together with Trish when we were teenagers at the Wagon Wheel.  Trish's cheerful demeanor was infectious and she truly touched so many people. Tisha and Kevin you welcomed us (“DonnaTina” as Brian used to call us) to your home countless times as teenagers and beyond, never stopping to consider if you had enough dinner to feed us all. Tisha’s spirit and generosity will live in our hearts always.  My deepest condolences and hugs to all of the family.


This morning I watched the clouds change colors and then saw a sliver of the moon. That was Trish looking down on us with a smile and deep laugh. Chillin’ on your float in the sound, dogwalking through Central and N Hampton, talking about your teaching, enjoying every minute with your family...this is the Trish I will always remember. There are no more words to describe my sadness and deep sympathy to Kathryn, Kevin, Brian and all your family. We are here for you.

My heart is broken, to lose such a special lady like you Trish.  So many memories of you growing up.  I know Pete drove you crazy,  but that was because he loved listening to you and how you always stuck up for your beliefs.  Rest In Peace, you will be missed by all. 

Oh, dear Trish.  You left us too soon and we are changed forever . We can never be the people we once were.  We and the world lost an extraordinary and vibrant woman.   To be snuffed out so quickly is incomprehensible and we will have to trust the Lord and have faith in his Almighty decision.   Trish, we will listen for the  heavenly melodies knowing that you are leading a parade of angels.  Rest in peace and let's rejoice in knowing that those in faith will see you again.
