

Robert (Bob) Hellenbrecht passed away on August 16, 2020 at Advent Hospital, Winter Park, FL after a long illness. He was 80 years old and survived by his wife of 56 years, Rosalie Winter Hellenbrecht, daughter Amy Burns, her husband Brian Burns, son Christopher Hellenbrecht and his partner Lori Migdol, grandchildren Tyler Burns and Kori Burns, and many nieces, nephews and loving friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Arthur P. Hellenbrecht and Elizabeth Hilbert Hellenbrecht and brother, Arthur W. Hellenbrecht.
Robert grew up in Cranford, NJ, graduated from Cranford High School in 1959 and served in the US Navy. He was a member of St. Michael’s RC Church, Cranford, NJ and served as president of the parish council, Eucharistic Minister and Lector, and was a member of the Cranford Knights of Columbus. He also served as President of the Cranford Zoning Board of Adjustment for 15 years. As a sports enthusiast, he coached Cranford little league baseball and St. Michael’s basketball. After spending 40 years in the corporate world, Robert retired as an independent technology consultant in 2008 and moved to Miller Place, Long Island, NY where he was a member of the Mount Sinai Yacht Club. He also spent winters on Hutchinson Island, FL and served as vice-president of the Capstan Homeowners Association.
A funeral mass will be held at 10 AM on Friday, September 4, 2020 at St. Louis de Montfort RC Church, Sound Beach, NY followed by interment at Calverton National Cemetery, Riverhead, NY. In memory of Bob, donations may be made to Hope House Ministries, P.O.Box 358, Mt. Sinai, NY or St. Michael’s RC Church, 40 Alden St, Cranford, NJ.
