With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Milton "Milt" Lentz, 89, formerly of Cheney, Kansas, who passed away on March 11, 2026, at his home in Gardnerville, Nevada, with three of his children by his side.
After serving in the U.S. Army, Military Police, Milt married Barbara Ann Hobson, of Girard, Kansas, in 1958. They shared 65 years of marriage. Barbara preceded him in death on August 18, 2023, in Arizona, where they lived for many years.
Together, Milton and Barbara are survived by four children: Michael Dean Lentz, Heidi Leanne Johnson, Mark Allen Lentz (Sharon), and Kurt Matthew Lentz (Celena), as well as eight grandsons, and one great-granddaughter. Milton, oldest of eight children, is survived by two brothers and one sister.
Milton and Barbara moved their two young children, Mike and Heidi, to Alaska, where Mark and Kurt were later born. While raising their family, Milt worked in the banking industry and served as chief appraiser for the Department of Transportation. Barbara was employed early on with Coastal Airlines and later retired from Alaska Airlines. Both were known for their friendly nature and were well-liked by colleagues, forming many lasting friendships.
Following their retirements, they relocated to Montana and later to Apache Junction, Arizona, where they spent many fun filled years traveling by RV and visiting destinations across the country.
Milton easily made friends no matter wherever he went and loved to tell stories, often with a laugh. He approached life with thoughtfulness and intention and was deliberate and composed in all he did. His disciplined approach and attention to detail stayed with him throughout his life, as did that sparkle in his eyes.
Barbara enjoyed sewing for many years and later developed a passion for art. She became quite accomplished, focusing on scenes of the American West.
Milton and Barbara will be remembered with love by all who knew them.
Service to be scheduled at a later date, held in Girard, Kansas.
