Josh was born January 16, 1982 in Minneapolis to Linda Allen and Steve Linn. Josh moved around a lot growing up; his family eventually settled in Rush city, MN. Josh was a graduate of the Class of 2000 of Rush City High School. He later moved to Minneapolis where he received his B.A. in accounting.
Josh had many passions in life and you could always tell by the way he glowed while pursuing them that he was at his happiest. He spent countless days exploring local green spaces and visiting historical sites with his husband, Toby. His love of history and genealogy was apparent to everyone who knew him. He was a delight to watch transform into an enthusiastic teacher as he shared stories of Minneapolis’s past with others. The quirky and human details were his favorite bits of the past to discover and he loved treasure hunting them up.
This natural curiosity to discover and solve puzzles paired with a playful, almost mischievous streak made for many happy nights playing board games, building with Legos, and trying not to swear too loudly at his favorite video games. Josh loved doing these things and many others too numerous to mention.
When it came to the things he loved nothing could top the love he had for his family and kittens. Josh was a loving son and brother but one of his greatest sources of joy was in being a doting uncle to his nieces and nephews. He loved getting to know the amazing little people they are becoming. Josh believed in quality versus quantity in his approach to people and those he loved were loved with his whole heart.
There were none as lucky as his husband when it came to receiving that love; though if you asked him he would have said he was the lucky one. Josh and Toby shared a romance and courtship to rival the best. Their marriage was one of equal abundant love, dreams of starting a family and building a strong community around them.

Survived by husband, Toby; mother, Linda (Jim); brothers, Pete (Alison) & Nick (Andi); nieces, Millie, Addison, & Claire; nephews, Aiden, Nathan & Dylan; aunts, uncles, cousins, many friends and his beloved kitties, Sugar & Kitty.
A service of remembrance will be held at 2pm Friday, April 19th at Sunset Funeral Home (2250 St Anthony Blvd, Minneapolis). Visitation from 12pm –2pm at the funeral home. Burial at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to family or ASPCA.
