Born and raised on cavalry posts, Maggie discovered a love for horses and riding. Many college afternoons found her at Churchill Downs, watching the horses and immersing herself in the vibrant atmosphere of the racetrack.
By the age of 13, Maggie had designed and knit her first sweater, marking the beginning of a lifelong passion for knitting. She went on to create hundreds of sweaters and afghans, winning numerous state and national competitions and selling her original designs.
She earned a degree in music history from the University of Louisville, further nurturing her deep love of music. Maggie’s passion for classical music was a constant companion, leading her to countless concerts and musical events, which she enjoyed alongside her beloved husband, Alex Wilson and dear friend, Diane Rosenwald.
Rivaling her devotion to music was Maggie’s enthusiasm for baseball. She was a dedicated Twins fan, attending home games with her knitting in hand, cheering them on with unwavering fervor from her first row seat.
Professionally, Maggie worked as a food technologist at the Pillsbury Company, where she delighted in playing bridge during lunch breaks.
Maggie’s life was distinguished by the many friends she made along the way. Her commitment to maintaining these relationships was unwavering, as she faithfully kept in touch with her friends over the years.
Maggie is survived by her loving daughter, Terry (Lee) Bosacker; stepchildren Alex (Rebecca), David (Edita), and Anatole (Jody) Wilson; grandchildren Laura (Teddy Johnson) and Emily (Ben Kise) Bosacker, Alicia (Roger) Vallee, and Tiffany, Lance, Patrick, and Martha Wilson. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Alex Wilson; her dear parents Eula May Pickett (née Cherry) and Christiancy Pickett; and her brother, Chris Pickett.
Maggie’s legacy is one of love, joy, and an unyielding zest for life. She had a unique talent for enjoying life to the fullest, each and every day.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. A memorial service will be held in May at Sunset Funeral Home in Minneapolis. Memorials preferred to St. Paul Chamber Orchestra or Second Harvest Heartland.
