Norma L. Anderson

passed from this life into eternal life in heaven on Tuesday morning, February 17, 2015, in Blaine, MN.

She was born August 4, 1919, to Edward and Clara Thomas in Warren, Ohio. She graduated from Houghton College, Houghton, NY, in 1948. Following college she worked as Dean of Women and English professor at Cleveland Bible College, Cleveland, OH, and St. Paul Bible College (now Crown College), St. Paul, MN, before marrying the love of her life, Oliver Anderson, in St. Paul, MN in 1958. He was a widower with four children in the home. She was a devoted wife to Olly, and mother to his children. She enjoyed teaching adult Bible studies and Sunday school classes in the community and in church, and after the kids were grown, traveled to various places to speak at women’s retreats. Her primary hobby was reading. Olly and Norma moved in 1986 from Minnesota to Weatherford, OK to escape the cold. They spent 23 years and made lots of friends in Weatherford before moving in with their youngest daughter and her family in Oklahoma City, due to Olly’s failing health. In September of 2014, Norma moved to an assisted living center in Blaine, MN.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and beloved husband, Oliver.

She is survived by her four children, Suzan (Les), Carol (Walt), Judy (Charles), and Robert (Debbie); seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and eleven nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service for Norma will be held Monday, February 23, at 1:00 PM, with visitation starting at 11:00 AM, at Sunset Funeral Home, 2250 St. Anthony Blvd NE, Minneapolis. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred.
