

Robert (Bob) Francis Ouimette was born on May 22, 1923 in Abbotsford, Wisconsin to George Marquis Ouimette and Cora Francis Ouimette and gently died on Nov. 23, 2015 at his daughter’s home in Story City, Iowa at the age of 92.
When he was four years old, the family moved to Minneapolis where Bob spent most of the rest of his life. Bob graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor's degree in Aeronautical Engineering. He served as a Naval Officer on an air craft carrier at sea for two years during World War II and in the Naval Reserve for many years after that. Bob married the love of his life, LaVonne Joan Hanson on August 16, 1947.
Bob was an active member of various churches for over 70 years. He sang in a choir for almost 50 years, served as Congregational President, Deacon, confirmation teacher and adult education teacher.
He was also active in the community as a cub scout leader, boy scout leader, little league baseball coach, PTA president, a member of Gideon's International, a leader in the local Christian Businessmen's committee, a co-founder of the West Metro Men's Christian Organization and a computer instructor at a Senior Citizens center.
Bob joined the Naval ROTC in September 1941, three months before Pearl Harbor. He received his Officer commission as Ensign in February 1944 and received his Honorable Discharge as Lieutenant, Senior grade from the U.S. Navy in April 1958. His medals include the Presidential Unit Citation with one star, the European African Theatre with one star, the American Theatre, the Asiatic Theatre and the Victory medal.
Bob was a prolific writer, researching and writing scriptural answers to questions he asked himself or others asked of him. Many who have read his papers, have grown in their understanding of God's relationship with them through Jesus.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, (LaVonne) his grand-daughter (Kelly Anlauf), two brothers (Milton, Jim) and three sisters (Lillian Turner, Trudy Baerstchy, Elaine Cooke).
He is survived by his children: Randy (and Patty) Ouimette from Arroyo Grande, CA; Connie (and Mark) Anlauf from St. Francis, MN; Doug (and Sue) Ouimette from Northfield, MN; Suzi (and Brad) Stellmaker from Story City, IA. 9 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren; a Sister-in-Law, Iona Johnson from Cokato, MN.
In the last 24 hours of his life on this earth, Bob Ouimette let those around him know his destination as he said repeatedly..."Going to Jesus..."

The family invites you to the Memorial Service on Saturday, January 16th at 11:00AM at Sunset Funeral Home (2250 St. Anthony Blvd. NE) Visitation one hour before the service at the funeral home. Military honors will follow the service at the funeral home.
