Ruth K Johnson

She was preceded in death by husband Ernest S. Johnson of 51 years, her husband Charles Horowitz, her parents, Sever and Ida Singlestad, siblings, Senora Jorgensen, and brothers Gilbert, Don, and Geb Singlestad.

Survived by her three sons, Charles E. (Kathleen), Randall S. (Lenka), Bruce M. (Linda), seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous friends.

Ruth graduated from Waseca High School and earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Mankato State Teacher’s College. Ruth taught elementary school in Minnesota, North Dakota, Arizona, and overseas in Japan, Bolivia, and Guatemala. With her positive attitude she touched the lives of her students as well as everyone she met. She enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge, singing, reading, and exercising. Ruth had an adventurous spirit and traveled throughout the USA as well as 25 foreign countries.

Ruth’s memorial service will take place where she was an active member; Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 4100 Lyndale Ave. So., Minneapolis, MN 55409 at 1:00 p.m. on Friday October 7th. Visitation is at 12:30. Burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Rather than flowers please consider memorials to Bethlehem Music Series or the 7500 York Residents Fund.
