On March 28th 2022; Peter Hillman passed away comfortably with friends and family by his side holding his hand. As in Peter’s words, this was not a battle with cancer; it was a struggle from the beginning. No strength to fight. Cancer is an insidious disease and everyone should be tested and screened. Get checked!
Peter was the youngest of 11 children. Left behind are his sisters: Gwendolyn Therrien, Linnea Battel Erica “Rikki” Kooy (Jack) and family, brother Conrad Hillman (Kim) & Family.
Predeceased brothers, Edwin James Hillman (Mavis), Eric Hillman (Louise), Sigrid Hillman and sisters Mary Palmantier. Stephanie Noble, Karoline Hillman Ward (David)
Peter also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, Leonardo Battel (Coleen) & Family,Michael Battel (Rogine) & Family, Julia Noble; Rebecca Hillman. Teresa Stainton and family; Jarrod Therrien (Gilly) & Family, Clayton Therrien, Cara Love Hillman & family, Alexis Faith Hillman and Family, Jake Kooy, Racelle Kooy; (Gregory) Jeremy Hillman, Jaclyn Hillman.
Those who knew Pete also know that he made his own choices when it came to people he called family. He chose friends to call “his family”. Signed Y.U.P. (your uncle Pete) these people he called his family were: Glen and Susan Grant, nephews Connor and Carson, Tim & Tanya Harder, nephew & niece Warren & Kelly, Brad Crowther & Sandy Bodrug. If you were chosen you were very special to Pete.
Pete was born and lived in Mission his whole life. He attended schools in Mission where he made lifetime friends. Anyone who knew Pete knew he was Unique & One of a Kind.
His love and passion for the outdoors, allowed his to in still his beliefs and skills to the younger ones in his life. If you had or showed any interest in fishing, hunting, archery or just wanted to be outside, he would always invest his time to allow you to learn those skills. He would provide you with the essentials it was up to you to carry it on.
Pete knew the waters like no other. He could always be found at one of the rivers, The Vedder, Chehalis or the Fraser. He met several lifetime friends while fishing, and when he wasn’t fishing, He was either working at Hubs Sporting Goods Store or building someone A Custom Fishing Rod. Peter worked at a few Local Mills over the course of his younger years. During the past 9 years, he worked for Royal Flex in Abbotsford as a Grinder.
If you are afraid of colonoscopy & prostate, good luck if you let it get beyond time to help you, including me. I could of and should have done prevention, cancer is in our family. Do it, because if you don’t do preventive, it could cost you your life!
Peter wanted everyone to know that this was supposed to be a great year! He had everything ready, and had planned to go Fish and Hunt and enjoy life. Cancer Sucks!!!
