

A Woodland Hills resident for almost four decades, Donald James MacMaster, passed away peacefully at his home on March 21, 2015, after an extended illness , with a number of family members at his side.
Don was born to Burtis D. and Mary K. MacMaster in White Plains, New York, on November 16, 1934. He attended parochial schools became an Eagle Scout . He attended College of the Holy Cross, Worcester, Massachusetts. In his senior year, he was Business Manager of the school’s weekly newsletter where he also worked part-time as a student instructor supporting courses in Economic Statistics. After graduating from Holy Cross in 1956, he earned a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Hartford, Connecticut.
Don received a United States Air Force commission and served on active duty as a Special Agent for the Office of Special Investigations. Upon release to the Reserve, he served as Director of Security and Law Enforcement for the New York Air National Guard. Following his move to California, he served as a Liaison Officer for the Air Force Academy and retired in 1984 with the rank of Lt. Colonel.
A real estate broker, Don was president of California Business and Industrial Properties headquartered in Northridge, specializing in industrial/commercial properties. He was active with the American Industrial Real Estate Association (AIR) for many years and was the organization’s president in 1985.
Don was a member of the Board of Directors of Pacific Lodge Youth Services, Woodland Hills, for twenty years and in 2006 was awarded the appellation of “Emeritus Director”. He also was a member of the congregation at St. Mel Roman Catholic Church where he served on both the Parish and Financial Councils. Don was a Fourth Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 3601, Canoga Park.
Don is survived by his wife of 35 years, Pamela, three sons, Michael; David; and Stephen; and a stepson, Thomas; his sister, Maureen Cook ; five grandchildren and two great grandsons.
A funeral Mass in celebration of Don’s life will be held at St. Mel Parish in Woodland Hills on April 22, 2015 at 10:00 a.m.
