October 26, 1948, a glorious day to the parents of Jennie and Jimmie Jurado; a second son God had presented them. A boy of mischief, love, humor and caring; there was never to be dull day in the Jurado household. But that was our beloved Edward, Ed to family, or Chris to his musical entourage. Raised in the San Fernando Valley during a time of “innocents” of the 50’s to a culture change of 60’s – it was a time where Ed would begin to examine his path in life. A graduate of Birmingham High School; he sensed a calling beyond the norms of his peers. Not the typical 9 to 5 jobs, but the adventures of a deeper satisfaction, one adventure where he could take his artistic and imaginative soul to greater heights of his first love – music. Over the course of 37 years our parent’s dear son, our dear brother, his children’s dear father, companion, and friend would make his mark in the entertainment world. As an ace musician, his talents would be paired with the likes of Freddy Fender, Charlie Rich Jr, and Al Cooper; just to name of few. His talents would lead him to the Grand Ole’ Opry. He was on “top of the world”, who couldn’t be prouder. He traveled to countries and places we all dream of visiting and entertained those who appreciated good music to dance and sing. He valued that connections – this was his happiest time. Ed met so many interesting people and befriend so many with his caring demeanor, humor and support – as we have seen over the past few weeks on social posting as they became aware of his illness, offering well wishes, and to God’s speed upon his passing on September 22, 2016. On that day the angels of music cried and sang a song of praise for this man, as our mother, father, his brother Steve, along with other family members greeted Ed with open arms and praise – all-while God praising; “Welcome Home, My Son. A Job Well Done”. Ed was also a family man who is survived by his three children; Michelle is first daughter, his oldest son Jason, and youngest Matthew. This also includes two grandsons: Chris and Dominick. He also leaves behind the remaining siblings of the Jurado family, his oldest brother James “Jim”, older sisters Teri and Sylvia, and the youngest Richard “Ricky”. So we come to the end of a time to reflect; many of you who knew, lived or embraced Ed or Chris will remember stories of “when this happened”, or “that happen” that will bring smiles or sadness to your face but always love in your heart. Yes we understand that not everything was rosy and pure; but we acknowledge this in our own way. We make peace with past trespasses and try to remember all the good in life and in Ed. We love our beloved Ed, and I know that he would want you to be happy, smiling, and challenge your dreams. His was not an easy road; but he showed that following your dreams is the greatest treasure in the world. In closing of this chapter we ask you to remember him and sing that one song that contains and holds so many memories for him, you and I; “Before the Last Teardrop Falls” Dios los bendiga bro – we love you.
