

Luis Jesus Diaz was born May 25, 1982, in Sun Valley, California to Jesus Diaz and Maria Trinidad Gómez. He was an accomplished newspaper professional for the Los Angeles Times, and an Army Veteran. He was a beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend who will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
The love for his country was unique. His entire life all he wanted to do was help others, which he accomplished when he enrolled in the US ARMY. He was stationed in South Korea, and later in active duty in Iraq. For his bravery, he received a number of awards/medals, including the Regional Readiness Command Blood & Fire award.
After being Honorably Discharged from the US ARMY, he enrolled in Santa Monica Community College where he earned an Associate Degree. As soon as he concluded this phase of his education, he transferred to the University of Berkley. He graduated with Honors in Media Studied and Communications.
Luis was known as the one to always get the family together. If Luis had a smile on his face, you would immediately know that he had been around his family. His family and friends were his pride and Joy. During his spare time, Luis enjoyed the outdoors and loved going on hikes to enjoy nature. He also loved to read, cook and bake, especially his famous coconut macaroons.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Mission Hills Catholic Mortuary in Mission Hills, California. The funeral will be on Saturday February 20th, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. the rosary is schedule for Friday, February 19th at 6 p.m. Viewing of the body is schedule for Friday, February 29th between 1 p.m and 8:30 p.m.
