It is with profound heartbreak and immeasurable love that we share the passing of our beloved Aurora Sifuentes, who left this world peacefully, wrapped in the arms and prayers of the family she devoted her life to.
Born on December 27, 1942, in San Isidro Los Ramones, Nuevo León, México, Aurora carried the spirit of her homeland with her as she built a beautiful life in the Rio Grande Valley. Everything she touched—every home she entered, every job she worked, every person she met—was shaped by her unwavering strength, her deep sense of responsibility, and her extraordinary ability to find light even in life’s darkest moments.
Aurora lived with a heart wide open. She found joy in the simple, sacred rhythms of everyday life: tending to her plants, caring for her cherished palomas, and losing herself in the timeless voice of Pedro Infante. She traveled to all 50 states, embracing each new place with wonder and gratitude. Whether facing the biting cold of a Rocky Mountain snowstorm or the fierce winds of an Arizona sandstorm, she stood firm—resilient, steady, unshaken. Her spirit was as vast and enduring as the landscapes she explored.
A woman of remarkable determination, Aurora poured her strength into every role she held. As the proud successful business owner of El Paso Tires and Truck Wash in Edinburg, Texas, she worked tirelessly, building a legacy of grit and perseverance. She also spent years at Grapefruit Valley Bowl on Old Highway 83, where her children created memories that still echo with laughter. Her dedication continued at Griffin & Brand Warehouses and the Dickies Clothing Warehouse on 23rd Street, where she labored with the same purpose that guided her entire life: providing for her family with love, dignity, and unbreakable resolve.
Aurora’s greatest pride was her family. She was the devoted mother of five children—Javier, Sergio (Dalia), Arturo, Deyanira, and Iris—and the adoring grandmother of twelve grandchildren, each one held close to her heart. Her love for them was boundless, steady, and fierce.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years , Melitón Sifuentes; her children; her grandchildren; her extended family; and countless others whose lives were forever changed by her kindness, her courage, and her quiet, powerful grace.
To us, she was more than a mother, a wife, a grandmother, great great grandmother—she was our protector, our guiding light, our superhero. Her greatness lives on in every life she touched, in every lesson she taught, and in every act of love she gave so freely. Her legacy of strength, perseverance, and unconditional love will echo through generations.
Aurora Sifuentes will forever remain the heart of our family.
She is also survived with deep sorrow by her husband, Meliton Sifuentes; five children, Deyanira (Zenon+) Mendez, Sergio Gonzalez, Iris (Seferino) Elizalde, Arturo Gonzalez, Javier (Stephanie) Sifuentes; five siblings, Rebecca Nava Rios, Maria Rios, Orfelinda Rios, Maricela Rios, Jose Rios; twelve grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; many more family and friends.
Aurora is welcomed in heaven by her parents, Marcelina Rios and Jose Rios; her siblings, Oscar Rios, Armandina Rios, and Pedro Rios.
A viewing will be held at Funeraria Del Angel in Mission, on Monday, January 26, 2026 from 5pm to midnight with a rosary service at 7pm. Catholic Mass will be at St. Jude Catholic Church on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 at 2pm followed by burial at Valley Memorial Gardens.
