My mother, the most beautiful, amazing, resilient, loving woman. As most of you know, mom and I were together for 43 years of my life. We grew up together, her in her 30’s and me as her youngest. We did everything together, we laughed, cried, disagreed, most importantly, we respected one another. Once mom retired, I’d always wake her up early in the morning and say, “Mom, wanna go have breakfast?” She’d say, ay Lisa quiero dormir, then quickly say, “Lisa, let me shower real quick.” 😂 The best moments! My mom was a funny woman, quiet but, get her comfortable and she’d have everyone laughing. So many stories to share, not enough time to share them all. My mother was a peaceful woman, no drama, very much a “leave in God’s hands, he’ll take care of it”. A very faithful, faithful woman to our Lord Jesus Christ. I’m grateful for all her teachings and learnings throughout my life. She was my best friend, my confidant, my voice of reason. This woman filled my cup on a daily, I could do anything and be anything. All I needed was her belief, that was more than enough. I love you mom ❤️ fly high, I know you are with our Lord in his kingdom watching and looking over us.

Sincere condolences to the entire family Gonzales on the loss of your mother (Elodia), Grandmother & great grandmother. Had the privilege of knowing her as a wonderful  mother-in-law to my sister Mandy & a loving  grandmother to my niece Nancy & nephew Christopher including her great grandsons Nathan & Mason. Although I didn’t know her son  Eloy & daughter Sandra very well, I know know she was a great mother to her children because I saw the love she shared with her son Henry & daughter Lisa. May Elodia rest in eternal peace 🙏🏻💐

It was RARE when Grandma agreed to a “funny photo” but I got her to do one LOL. She had her silly moments, and they were the best. I love and miss you Grandma. Thank you for teaching me faith, love, and STRENGTH. My second momma, my heart.  ❤️

One of the biggest days of my life, and grateful our Grandma G was able to attend and see me walk the stage getting my Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology. Love you and miss you, Grandma!

My earliest memory of mi tia Elodia is when she was a teenager, and I was about 8 years old. Oralia and Elodia were always close, and someone had sewn two dresses exactly the same and the girls were modeling them for us.  They looked like twins.  It was a 1950 or 1960 style, with short sleeves, small waste and flared skirt in a geometric print, very stylish. Elodia, being the youngest, was antsy and ready to get out of the dress, smacking her lips somewhat impatiently. But oh, the rest of us were in awe of their beauty as they turned this way and that and how perfectly the dress fit their youthful figure. The dresses were vibrant with trendy colors of green, orange, and maybe beige. I've never seen a dress like that since. Although Elodia and Oralia were close, each had their own personality, which were complimentary, just like when they wore the same dress--Elodia was Elodia and Oralia was Oralia.  Still, they were very much alike and they reflected the kind of upbringing of the time--gentleness, respect, dutiful, yet strong and confident and this carried them into a long and fruitful life with children and grandchildren.
I also remember Elodia when she was young and married, and then with children, and later independent working into retirement. My parents, Victor and Olivia, had left us with Jesus and Elodia for a short while. Jesus arrived from work and as he entered the door with his lunch pail, Elodia was there to meet him. He tenderly embraced Elodia, trying to kiss her as he lovingly patted her cheek, but Elodia whispered to him that the children were here! They were very much in love. They made a good couple, Elodia modest and Jesus brusque, but they also complimented each other. They were a happy family with four children. Elodia kept a good house with meals and making sure everyone's needs were tended to while Jesus provided with his work.
May our memories of Elodia show her beautiful light in this world and continue to spread joy.  Lovingly, June Azua
