

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Elodia Olivarez Gonzales, who left us on Sunday March 22, 2026 at the age of 80. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, and her presence will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Born on April 28, 1945 in McAllen Texas, Elodia Olivarez Gonzales was the child of Gilberto Olivarez and Simona Olivarez. Throughout her life, Elodia lived a life devoted to her family and faith. She was known for her strength, humor, and her deep love of cooking, often bringing people together around the table. She found joy in simple pleasures, including reading and reliving her younger days through the music of Elvis Presley. After retiring from Olive Garden, Elodia spent her days doing what she loved most — cherishing time with her children and grandchildren, sharing stories, laughter, and the warmth that made her so special.
She will be remembered for her unwavering love, her resilient spirit, and the lasting impact she made on everyone blessed to know her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family, who find comfort in the love and lessons she leaves behind. She is survived, with deep sorrow, by her children, Eloy Gonzales, Henry Gonzales, Sandra Huerta, and Lisa Gonzales; her grandchildren, Christopher Gonzales, Nancy Trevino, Randy Gonzales, Erica Gonzales, Nikki Gonzales, Brenda Gonzales, Brittney Gonzales, Isabella Gonzales, Michael Huerta II, Victoria Huerta, and Logan Huerta; seven great-grandchildren; and many more family members and friends.
Elodia Olivarez Gonzales, was preceded in death by her beloved parents Gilberto Olivarez and Simona Garcia; brother Eliseo Olivarez, sisters Oralia George, Olivia Goodrie and grandson Eloy Jesus Junior “EJ” Gonzales.
A service will be held at Funeraria Del Angel in Mission on Friday, April 3, 2026 from 4pm to 8pm with a memorial service at 6pm.
The family deeply appreciates the outpouring of love, prayers, and support during this difficult time. Elodia Olivarez Gonzales’s legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
