

Eloy was born on January 17, 1962, in Donna, Texas, and was raised and lived in Havana, Texas. He proudly enlisted in the United States Army on October 14, 1987, serving his country honorably until his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eduardo and Irene G. Hernandez, and by his younger brothers, Ernesto Hernandez and Lazaro Hernandez
Eloy leaves behind his loving wife, Maria Yolanda Hernandez, and her two sons, whom he lovingly raised as his own, Robert Lee Pena and Erick Pena (Shelby Pena). He was a devoted grandfather to Abigail Pena and Amari Pena and joyfully awaited the arrival of his grandbaby, Beauden Pena. Eloy also raised his nephew, Bradley Rubio, who was like a son to him.
He is survived by his brothers, Eduardo Hernandez Jr. (Norma Flores Hernandez), Emilio Hernandez, and Israel Hernandez (Virginia Foster Hernandez); and his sisters, Sandra H. Martinez (Leo Martinez), Diana H, Mendiola (Lorenzo Mendiola t), Elizabeth H. Alcocer (Edelmiro Alcocer), Erika H. Garcia (Hugo Garcia), and Esmeralda HO Solis (Narciso Solis).
Eloy is also survived by 25 nieces and nephews and 6 great-nieces and great-nephews. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission, Texas, at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at the Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery at 11:00 am.
