McALLEN — Maria Del Carmen “Carmelita” Gomez, 89, went to be with the Lord on December 1, 2013 at Solara Hospital in McAllen. She was born on September 12, 1924 to Jose & Dolores Garza. Mrs. Gomez is preceded in death by her husband, Jose Gomez Vela; 2 brothers, Pancho and Genaro Garza and sister Ofelia Garza. She is survived by her son, Cosme (Enedina) Gomez; 3 grandchildren, Nadia Gomez, Cosme Alejandro Gomez & Andres Alejandro Gomez. She is also survived by her siblings, Beto Garza, Meme Garza and Lupe Garza Delgado. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and sister and will be dearly missed. Family received friends on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 from 3-9 p.m. with a rosary recited that evening at Funeraria Del Angel Chapel in Mission. Funeral service will be today, Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Chapel in Mission. Interment will follow to Valley Memorial Gardens in Mission. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Funeraria Del Angel in Mission, a dignity memorial provider.
