It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Maruca Gonzalez, who left us on March 16, 2026 at the age of 74. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and her presence will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Born April 9, 1951, in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Maruca González was the daughter of Seferino and Ofelia Mata. She was a gifted seamstress for over 50 years, widely known throughout McAllen for her incredible talent and dedication. Whether working in local dress shops or from the comfort of her home, she poured her heart into every stitch, leaving a lasting mark on her community.
She shared a beautiful life with her husband of 51 years, cherishing their time together until his passing. In the years that followed, her greatest joy was being surrounded by her children and grandchildren, never missing an opportunity to celebrate life’s special moments with them.
She found happiness in the simple, meaningful things—gardening, sewing, cooking, and listening to Juan Gabriel, whose music brought her comfort and joy.
Her legacy lives on through the love she gave, the memories she created, and the many lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
She is survived by her three children: Felipe (Rosa) González, Mayra (Sheldon) Boyd, Cecilia (Robert) Trejo. Grandchildren: Brianna (Jason), Natalee, Ricky, Marcela, Gabriel and Great-Grandchildren: Mason and Nayelee. She is also survived by her 3 siblings, Leobardo Mata, Rubén Mata, and Guadalupe Galván-Mata.
Maruca González was preceded in death by her husband, Felipe González.
The family would like to thank Mission Nursing and Rehab, The Heights of Alamo and Greater Valley Hospice for all of their hospitality, empathy, and kindness during this difficult time.
The family invites relatives and friends of Maruca González to her service on Friday, March 20, 2026 from 5:00-10:00PM to be held at Funeraria Del Angel in Mission, TX. The family deeply appreciates the pouring of love prayers, and support during this difficult time. Maruca’s legacy will live on in the heart of all her knew her.
