Rita H. Sanchez, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, was born on February 20, 1945, to Arturo Hernandez and Celina Vidal. She passed peacefully on February 9, 2026, surrounded by the love of the family she devoted her life to.
Rita was preceded in death by her husband of over 30 years, Jesus Sanchez, with whom she shared a lifetime of memories, love, and devotion. She is also preceded by her siblings, Sofia, Gustavo and Nena.
She leaves behind siblings: Galvino, Alfredo and Arturo, her cherished children: Jesus Sanchez Jr. (Veronica), Jacob Sanchez (Sonia), Julio Sanchez (Anyisa), Irma Olga Garza (Raul), Alfonso Sanchez, and Rene Sanchez (Marta). Rita was the proud grandmother of 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart. To her, her grandchildren could do no wrong.
Rita was known for her vibrant personality and her deep love for life. She loved her music, enjoyed long phone conversations with friends, and was always impeccably dressed—makeup on, hair done, and ready for the day. She loved going to dances, tending to her garden, and sharing her well-known herbal remedies, which she passed down with wisdom and care to her children and grandchildren.
As the baby of her family, Rita never held her tongue and never hid her heart. She had many friends and was always just a phone call away—ready to listen, offer advice, or simply be there when someone needed her. She was a great mother, a devoted grandmother, a loving mother-in-law, and a teacher in ways both big and small. Her lessons, love, and strength will live on through the generations she helped shape.
Rita’s warmth, honesty, and unwavering presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever remain in the music she loved, the garden she tended, and the family she held so close.
