It is with deep sorrow and love that we announce the passing of Rodolfo Cerda, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who passed away surrounded by family.
Rodolfo proudly served his country as a Vietnam War veteran, serving in the U.S. Army from June 1968 to March 1970 as part of the 169th Engineering Battalion. His service to our nation was a source of immense pride and honor throughout his life.
Rodolfo was married to the love of his life, Ernestina Cerda, for 41 wonderful years. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. He was a loving and proud father their daughter Laura Ileana Cerda and to his children Rodolfo Cerda Jr., and Esmeralda Cerda, and a grandfather to his grandchildren.
Rodolfo is survived by his loving siblings: Elida Castillo, Elma Vera, Linda Cerda, Hermelinda (Bill) Brasher, Elvia Migliozzi, Ruben Cerda, Corina Cerda, and Ernesto (Alma) Cerda III. He is preceded in death by his parents Ernesto Cerda Jr. and Corina Rodriguez Cerda, as well as his siblings Emma Cerda, Roel Cerda, and Eva Cerda.
From a young age, Rodolfo found joy in working on cars. His love for activity and friendly competition led him to a lifelong passion for billiards and bowling. A dedicated bowler since the 1980s, Rodolfo achieved the rare and impressive feat of bowling a perfect 300 game. He participated in numerous bowling leagues and continued to play regularly until 2020. He also enjoyed peaceful days fishing at the island and in Port Mansfield—places that brought him great happiness.
Those who knew Rodolfo will remember him as a kind, loving man who brought warmth and strength to every life he touched. His legacy of love, dedication, and quiet strength will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, send donations to Mujeres Unidas, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, or a charity of your choice in honor of Rodolfo Cerda.
