He suddenly passed away at the age of 44 on September 13, 2024 in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.
He is the quintessential success story, growing up as a young boy living in Reynosa to a self
made oil rig man who could attain any experience or luxury he desired thanks to the fruit of his
labor. He is remembered as being the life of any gathering, having an exceptionally adventurous
spirit, and as an upstanding family man. Everyone who knew him grew to love and admire him.
No matter who he came across he always found a way to connect and laugh with them, whether
it was his closest friends and family, the bank teller, or the barista at a coffee shop. His
contagious joy, humor and laughter was something to behold and will never be forgotten.
His life and travels spanned the globe many times over, he was very accustomed to flying
across 10 different time zones to arrive at work in Saudi Arabia. He also spent many years of his
life taking his loved ones on excursions spanning from California, New York, Europe, Mexico
and as far east as Japan. A very generous and kind man, his wife remembers him as the most
content he had ever been right before he passed, knowing his children were well equipped to
take on their own lives.
Rodolfo was exceptionally young both in body, mind, and spirit. Towards the end, he never took
too many things too seriously. His house was in order, his family was in good standing and he
really began to enjoy the little things in life. Inconveniences, whether big or small, just seemed
temporary to him and anything slightly positive that happened in his life made him exuberant
with joy. The carefree child he had always been inside never died.
Being a man of faith, he made a vow to attend church every morning from Monday to Friday to
pray for his children that were no longer present at home and out creating their own adventures.
He kept this commitment to God for years before being called to his side. He did so even in
keeping with his holy sacraments before the Lord and marrying his wife of 25 years, Wendoline
Murillo, through the church just before his untimely death.
Physically he was very active, consistently weight lifting since he was a teenager, eating
healthy and running 5ks and marathons with his kids every year. He did not imbibe in alcohol or
any vice, save for the occasional Cuban cigar he lounged with when he held his famous
cookouts on the weekends that he was home from his work. Many people say that a fathers
natural habitat was the grill, but for Rodolfo it really was. His food was spectacular and he went
out of his way to make everyone feel like a valued guest in his home. It was never a dull time
with his jokes, loud music and humorous dancing. As much as he tried to make the gathering
about everyone else enjoying, no one could deny he was the man of the hour.
He will be sorely missed by his wife and children, who lost a guiding light and pillar of strength in
their lives.
He eternally watches over them and is survived by his wife, Wendoline Murillo, and his children:
Frida, Rodolfo III, and Wilbert Murillo. Forever venerated and remembered by his mother, Ines,
and his siblings, Lourdes Murillo Leal, and Rafael Murillo.
