

Rodrigo was born in Edinburg to Miguel and Antonia Reyna Salinas on May 27, 1934. He graduated from Edinburg High School in 1955, where he then joined the military and was stationed in Germany during his tour. On his return he married his high school sweetheart Carmen Cantu Salinas. He went on to earn a master’s degree in education from A & I University. He worked as an educator for the Edinburg school district with his wife Carmen, also an educator, for many enjoyable years. Devoted father, talented educator, endless tinkerer, comedian, warm and congenial, talented singer, a man with his own brand of love, compassion, tenderness, and resolve. To those how knew him, he was all this and so much more, he will be greatly missed.
Rodrigo is preceded in death by his wife Carmen and daughter Elizabeth, parents, Miguel and Antonia and sister Enriqueta.
Rodrigo is survived by his daughter Anita, sons Michael (Sonia), Rene (Mary), Rolando (Judy Nancy) and 9 grandchildren, Michael Vincent, Jacob, Nicolas, Isaac, Caleb, David, Vincent Gabriel, Nicole, Sarah and Arthur. Sisters Guadalupe Salinas Balli, Adelina Salinas Mindieta, and Jesus “Chuy” Salinas
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Saint Joseph Catholic Church, 114 West Fay Street, Edinburg TX 78539. Visitation and rosary will be held at Del Angel Funeral Home in Mission Texas on January 29, 2016 at 6:00 – 9:00 pm. Funeral service will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on January 30, 2016 at 9:30 am. Burial will follow at Valley Memorial Garden Cemetery The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all members of the community for their support in his final days. God bless.
