I looked at the wonderful photo of Alekine from his service on 9/11 - it's hard to believe it's been an entire year.  I look at his photo each morning and remember all the things that we loved about him- just so sad that he is no longer with us physically.  For sure he's in all of our hearts.  Sending Cecilia and his beautiful children our love and best wishes.

I think of Alekhine often. I was an insurance colleague of his.
He was always so knowledgeable and kind. He would take our team to lunch and he was always so funny and nice. He could make me roar with laughter. I miss him.

How are you not here? Here on this physical earth?  With us?  We were all supposed to grow old together.  I’ve been struggling with this thought since the day god called you home.   My belief that you were meant for such greater things beyond this world is the only comfort I find when start to feel anger about you not being here with us.  You were ALWAYS destined for the greater good and now your reach to everyone’s life you have impacted is infinite. Your impact on my life, my family’s life is immeasurable and irreplaceable.  I love you and I miss you.

It's been almost 3 weeks, I'm still at a loss for words. Words fall short to describe the weight of this grief, and this void we all feel from losing you. Of how extraordinary of a person you are - Husband, Father, Brother, Friend, Colleague, whether you were in someone's life for 2 decades or 2 months, you left your mark on their hearts, and we are forever changed because of you. I will never understand any of this or will ever be able to express how I feel, (I never had the gift of gab like you did), but I find peace in knowing that you were too good for this world, and that God's plans for you are bigger than our own. I'II miss the way you make fun of my blazers, and my punctuality, or lack there of, lol.
I will always wish I had more time with you brother. I miss you and love you. Until we meet again, rest in Aloha, Alekhine.

He made everyone’s day better through his positive attitude and desire to be hopeful, caring, and thoughtful.

I will always have great memories of Alekhine, and I will always try to see life through his lens moving forward. Starting with a smile to greet people and a reaffirming word. Kine was Kind. Kine was Aloha. Kine is a model to which the world needs much more of. I will miss him, but I will not forget him. His spirit and optimism will live on in me.

I was not fortunate enough to know Alekhine the longest or the closest. However, the time I spent with him was important to me. As we age and start families often the emphasis of time is not on yourself but others. To this point, making a friend like Alekhine later in life was a true gift. Our kids attended Montessori School together and played sports together. Our wives connected and enjoyed each other’s company.  Our light conversations watching our kids on soccer sidelines, in martial arts studios, and along tennis court fences led to our families exploring beautiful national parks together and sharing holidays. I used to joke with Alekhine that he was the mayor of Mission Viejo.  Fashionable and gregarious, he was always in command of the room. Alekhine had the special ability to make the person he was talking to feel important and the center of attention. His smile, affable nature, and welcoming vibe lifted every room. He was a beacon of light and an endless source of optimism. Alekhine was a lifelong learner. No one got more out of a YouTube video than Alekhine. His desire to always learn new things challenged me intellectually.  He sent me books to read, videos to watch, and listened to my less-than-intellectual interpretations of the material. While I must admit I will never be handy around the house, knowledgeable about cars, or versed on life in space, he made these topics interesting to me and helped me see the world through different eyes. As a father, husband, and friend, Alekhine was a man that I held in the highest regard. I would be remise if I didn’t say how much I miss him. Even when I moved to Florida, Alekhine always made time for a call or text to catch up. Conversations were always easy and uplifting and filled with jokes or anecdotes. No matter the audience (clients, teachers, friends, or strangers) I was always impressed by how Alekhine made everyone feel seen and heard. Alekhine set a great example of the impact one can have on another.

My family and I are extending our deepest sympathy and prayers to Cecilia Soto Uy and family. May the repose of the soul of Alekhine Rest in Peace🌷🙏

To Alekhine's children:  We have not met, but I do want to try and explain how amazing you are and will continue to be because of your dad.  I have had the pleasure of working with your dad for a long time, even before you were born.  He was smart, funny, kind, intelligent.  One of the nicest people that I have met.  All of these traits are in you and will continue to grow with you as you grow.   You will miss him every day, but he will never be truly gone because he is part of you.  I know this will never replace the sadness.  But know that he made an amazing impact on so many people.  And the one thing that you have that no one else in the world has:  You got to call him dad.   Be strong for your mom and together you all will make your dad more proud than he already is.

Our hearts go out to Cecelia and the children.  We have had the pleasure of working with Alekhine for over 20 years and he became more than a business associate - he was a valued friend of our family.   He will truly be missed - his beautiful smile and spirit will live in our hearts forever.   Words cannot express our sorrow at his passing.

Alekhine was a shining light his bright smile warmed up the room and his energy always upbeat. I was blessed to have him as my colleague and to call him my friend.   He helped me through my battle of cancer recently as he was battling his own, he took the time to call me and reassure me, he called me CZ I was going to be okay.  I called him Pal and Warrior as his positive attitude as was amazing.  He was simply the best.  My deep condolences to his beautiful family.
