Andrew Binzley Trussell Jr.

Andrew Binzley Trussell, Jr., 90 years old, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, July 30 2023. Passionate to share the gospel Andy worked over 50 years as a missionary, pastor, and teacher. Andy, the only child of Andrew Trussell, Sr., and Lillian Condon Trussell was born in Omaha, Nebraska on June 14, 1933.

The Trussell family lived in Massachusetts and New Jersey before moving to Pasadena, California in 1950. It was shortly after they arrived, Andy attended a Billy Graham crusade at the Rose Bowl and gave his life to Christ. He made the decision to dedicate himself to serving God and attended Biola Bible Institute of Los Angeles. He graduated in June 1955, Magna Cum Laude with a Theology degree. Andy met Carmen Perez while at a mission’s convention in December 1954 and continued their relationship through correspondence. They were both active in missions, working separately covering Central and South America.

Carmen was impressed by Andy quoting the apostle Paul’s words “woe is me if I preach not the gospel” Carmen thought this is the right future partner for me. They both had the same vision and calling from God. Andy and Carmen met again in Argentina and were married in Buenos Aires in December 1957. All 3 of their children were born in Argentina. The family shared a love for the people and culture.

Over his 50 years of service while in Argentina and Mexico, Andy started and pastored several churches, taught at several Bible Schools, helped organized the construction of churches, and had a radio ministry. After retiring from mission’s work Andy and Carmen settled in Mission Viejo and attended South Coast Christian Church in San Juan Capistrano. In retirement Andy taught at La Puente Bible Institute and at his community Bible club.

Andy leaves behind his wife of 66 years, Carmen Yolanda Perez Trussell; daughter Andrea Ruth Trussell Anderson (Gary Edward Anderson); two sons David Mark Trussell (Guinevere Trussell) John Andrew Trussell; and three grandchildren Sean Michael Anderson, Cole Andrew Trussell and Allyson Raylene Trussell.

A memorial service for Andrew will be held Saturday, August 12, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Fairhaven Memorial Services, 27856 Center Drive, Mission Viejo, CA 92692.
