Born Annette Bologna
Brooklyn, New York – July 7th 1939 to April 28th 2025 Mission Viejo, CA
Annette Philpott, born Annette Bologna to Angelo and Sue Bologna in Brooklyn, New York, was the beloved first of four children. Her journey took her from the bustle of the city to the sunny shores of Santa Monica, where she grew up and later met the love of her life, Jim Philpott- married in 1961 and recently celebrated 62 beautiful years. Together, they built an amazing life in Mission Viejo, California, raising two cherished children, Gina and Eric.
Annette dedicated much of her life to caring for others, both as a nurse and as a devoted teacher of religious education at St. Kilian’s Church. Her deep faith and compassion for others extended far beyond her career—she was always the first to offer a helping hand, often volunteering at her church and community as a member of Stephen Ministry, CCD Teacher, and Vacation Bible school volunteer.
A woman of adventure and spirit, Annette once traveled through Europe with her best friend Jamar, backpacking across multiple countries and embracing the richness of new experiences. Later to celebrate her and Jim’s 50th Anniversary she packed up the whole family for a two week vacation in Italy. Yet her greatest joy was always at home, gathered around the table with her family. She was known for her legendary Italian meals and for baking the best chocolate cake, lovingly prepared for every birthday celebration.
Family meant everything to Annette. She adored her five grandchildren—Megan, Marissa, William, Lauren, and Jacqueline—and made every moment with them special. One of her most treasured traditions was taking them to see The Nutcracker each Christmas, creating memories that will be held close for a lifetime. Annette never missed a dance recital, swim meet, lacrosse or soccer game she was always occupied the smallest seat but gave the loudest cheer.
Annette Philpott lived a life rooted in love, service, faith, and joy. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, warmth, and strength—a legacy that will continue to live on in all who were lucky enough to know her.
