

Curtis Wayne Montgomery, affectionately known as "Papa" by his grandchildren, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2025, at his home in Rancho Mission Viejo, California. Born on June 1, 1958, in Riverside, California, Curtis was 66 years old at the time of his passing.
Curtis grew up in Moreno Valley alongside his brothers, Mark and David. In 1978 he met Cheryl, marking the beginning of their loving partnership and 44 years of marriage.
Curtis earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of California, Riverside (UCR) in 1980. Thirteen years later, with the unwavering support of his wife and three children, he embarked on a new journey, returning to school to pursue his passion for chiropractic care. In 1999, he founded Montgomery Chiropractic in Riverside, where he devoted himself to healing and serving his patients with skill and compassion until his retirement in January 2024.
He built his home and practice in Riverside, where he raised his children, providing a nurturing environment for their growth and development. Curtis was a devoted family man, deeply valuing love and service. He found immense joy in gardening and landscaping, spending countless hours caring for every plant and tree in his backyard sanctuary. An adept craftsman, Curtis enjoyed completing construction projects and maintenance around the home, always equipped with the right tool for every task. His extensive collection of tools was a source of pride, reflecting his belief that the right instrument was essential for every job.
Curtis was a beloved husband, a wonderful father, devoted son, and the best “Papa”. He leaves behind his wife Cheryl, his son Brian; daughters, Erin and Jessica; mother, Carole; son-in-laws, Chris and Ryan; grandchildren, Addison, Aiden, Grayson, Jaxon, Remington, and a sixth grandchild due in July 2025; brother, Mark; sisters-in-law, Donna, Elaine, and Sandy; nephews, Mark, Dillon, Michael, and Tyler; and nieces, Alicia, Lexi, Katie, Karla, and Amy. He was preceded in death by his father, Wayne, and brother, David.
Curtis was a provider, a healer, and a devoted family man. His hardworking, patient, loving, selfless, and kind nature left an indelible mark on all who knew him. His legacy of love, dedication, and craftsmanship will be fondly remembered by all.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, April 11th.
