Jayne Cox Bailey

Jayne Cox Bailey of Mission Viejo, California died April 16, 2019 at the age of 95. Jayne was born in Youngstown, Ohio on February 27, 1924. Her family moved to Windsor, Colorado, and then to Wheatland Wyoming. She grew up on a farm with her sister, Reba, where her father raised sugar beets. She attended a one-room school house until she went into town to Wheatland High School and graduated in 1944. She worked as a salesperson and bookkeeper for the Golden Rule. Jayne and James Bailey eloped and were married on December 24, 1945. They had two sons in Wheatland (Jim and Jerry). They then moved to Torrington where she gave birth to two daughters (Janet and Joyce). In 1958 the family moved to Denver, Colorado. Jayne was very devoted to her family and kept in close contact with her extended family. In 1968 they moved again to Fountain Valley, California. She found time to

work at the May Company selling lamps, mirrors and fine china. When James retired they moved to Banning, California. She was a life long member of the Presbyterian church and taught Sunday School. An excellent cook and baker, she mastered the art of cake decorating. Throughout her life she found time to be a room mother, a member of the PTA, and participated in a variety of volunteer projects including a

tutoring program for young readers. In 2006, her husband James, died suddenly. Jayne kept busy in her community in Banning. In her last few years she moved to Mission Viejo where she could receive more care. Not content to just sit at home, Jayne was an active and much loved participant in the Alzheimer Family Care Center in Huntington Beach. She is survived by her four children, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Memorial Services will be held at Fairhaven Memorial Services, 27856 Center Drive, Mission Viejo, CA, 92692. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Wheatland, Wyoming Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations being sent to the Alzheimer Family Care Center, 9491 Indianapolis Avenue, Huntington Beach, CA, 92646.
