Karen Leigh Shanley

Karen Leigh Shanley, beloved wife, daughter, sister, aunt and niece passed away September 25, 2023. She was 61 years young. Karen was the owner of South OC Accounting, a successful bookkeeping business in Mission Viejo. Karen was born in Oregon City, OR on 25 April 1962 to Benjamin Gassaway Jr and Lois Gustaveson. She was their only daughter. Karen grew up in Vancouver, WA where she graduated from Columbia River High School. Even though she was a native of the Northwest, she was drawn to the sunshine and weather of California where she lived for the last 40 years. Karen had a love of music and an indecipherable playlist. Her love of music led her to her husband, Richard Moore, who is a drummer. Karen and Rich were married on 10 November 2007. Karen leaves behind her husband, Rich Moore, five brothers: Ben Gassaway III Coeur d’Alene, ID; Mark Gassaway Vancouver, WA; Mike Gassaway Show Low, AZ; David Gassaway Vancouver, WA; Steve Gassaway Meridian, ID; 19 nieces and nephews and 22 grandnieces and grandnephews; and her two cat babies: Lancelot and Guinevere.

Services will be held on October 7 at 11:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints bldg 23850 Los Alisos Blvd. Mission Viejo.
