Kathi was raised in the Long Island area of New York and later received her degree in Nursing from Queensbourgh College. In 1970, Kathi met a gentleman, Martin Jacobs, and the couple dated for four years before marrying in 1974. During their 23 years of marriage, they had three boys - Ian, Adam and David.
After moving to California, Kathi earned her master’s degree in nursing and enjoyed a successful career in the healthcare field.
She was a real renaissance woman who enjoyed the arts, theater, music and traveling, especially to Hawaii. Kathi was also a lover of culinary arts always in search of her next foodie adventure. Above all, Kathi enjoyed spending time with her family. Kathi’s most happiest times were when she was surrounded by her four grandchildren.
For Kathi, family and relationships with people were everything. She maintained an “open home” policy where everyone was welcome. She fully embraced the value of family, friends and community. It was said that as a friend of Kathi, you would be a friend for life.
Kathi is survived by her three sons, Ian (wife, Jeanette) Jacobs, Adam (wife, Katherine) Jacobs, and David (wife, Lauren) Jacobs; four grandchildren, Oliver, Madelyn, Ashton and Avery; her siblings, Melanie (husband, Leslie) Krieger; two brothers, Andrew (wife, Patricia) Yudin and Jon (wife, Vicki) Yudin; and her partner, Ed Simon of 10 years, as well as countless friends from coast to coast.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, October 23, from 2 to 4 p.m. with a reception to follow from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Yudin residence, 11 Elliot Lane, Coto de Caza, CA. Kathi will be laid to rest on Friday, October 25, at Morris Hill Cemetery at 317 N. Latah Street, Boise, ID 83702.
The family will sit shiva immediately following the burial on Friday at 4642 W. Renhold St., Meridian ID 83646. Details for Saturday and Sunday to follow. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you make a donation to the American Cancer Society in Kathi’s honor.
