Lawrence Gann (also known as Larry) was born on August 15, 1937, in Tulare, California. He passed away peacefully of natural causes in his home in Laguna Woods on February 8, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. He was 88 years old.
Larry was raised in Southgate, California. He was the eldest child of Wendell & Irma Gann. He graduated from Southgate High School. He then attended Compton College before transferring to USC where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business. After college, Larry went to work with his father, Wendel Gann, who started a propane parts company supplying parts primarily to the automotive industry. After initially working with his father, Larry decided to switch to selling insurance for Allstate where he established a successful career. As Larry’s father neared retirement, Larry started overseeing operations at Gann Products and eventually inherited the business. Larry considered the employees at Gann Products to be part of his family, and he was extremely loyal to them all the way to the end.
Larry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, cousin and dear friend to all who knew him. He was known for his consistently kind and calm manner. He rarely raised his voice or complained and always left those around him feeling appreciated and respected. He had many lifelong friends that he regularly kept in touch with. Larry & Lila were the glue that kept the family unit together. Over the years, they orchestrated countless annual trips to scenic places he and his family greatly enjoyed visiting. Larry also had a passion for golfing, boating and playing a card game called Hand & Foot.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Lila Gann, his sister & brother-in-law Vonn & Gordon Henderson and their family, his sister-in-law Barbara Wilson and her family, his daughter & son-in-law Julie & Greg Wilhelm and their family, his son & daughter-in-law Scott & Debbie Nelson and their family, his youngest son Michael Lawrence Gann, and his cousins Kay Gann Pruett, Loretta James and their families. He is preceded in death by his beloved grandson, Devin Wilhelm, and we take comfort in knowing they are reunited in heaven.
Larry will be deeply missed but his legacy will live on through his family and all those who knew him.
