Myron “Mick” Horace Davis Jr. was born in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, on June 16th, 1943. Born as the second of five children, Mick and his family moved to the Los Angeles area ealy in his life and it is where Mick always called home.
Mick has always been a hard worker, at the age of nine, he was a paper boy for the neighborhood. In his late teens, he gained a passion for woodworking, which led to a job as a cabinet maker, something he dearly loved.
Mick graduated high school in 1961 and was drafted into the Army shortly after. He proudly served on the front lines in Vietnam and was awarded the Purple Heart after being injured in combat.
When he returned from Vietnam, he continued working as a cabinet maker. It was at this job where his close friend had been scheduled to take the LA City Fire entry exam. Mick decided to tag along that day, passed the exam, and found a new home with the Los Angeles City Fire Department. Mick served 35 years for LA City, ending his career as an Engineer in 2008. Upon retiring, he joined the Disney Fire Department reconnecting with many of his LA City crew.
Mick’s happiest and proudest accomplishment in life was his 28 years of marriage to his wife, Mary Kay Davis. The pair, residing in Mission Viejo, CA, enjoyed taking ski trips, vacations to Kauai, cruising, dancing, and family. They were best friends.
Mick and Mary Kay enjoyed their wonderful family made up of Mary Kay’s five children, their 11 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He is additionally survived by his sister, Pam, and brother, Bill.
Mick lived a full life, belonging to many organizations, and was an active volunteer in his community. He had many friends such as his veterans, golf buddies, LA City FD, Disney, fitness, and church groups which he met with regularly.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
